I think our midfield is bottom 4 in the AFL, which says a lot considering we have Cotchin and Martin in there.
Our inside 50 numbers are poor, we were constantly beaten in this area as well as tackle numbers too.
On top of this is the fact that none of our midfielders kick goals, even Dusty kicked very few goals this year.
Adding Prestia will help but our midfield needs a LOT of work and some much bigger bodies.
Starting midfield next year of Cotchin, Martin, Vlastuin, Prestia, Miles, C. Ellis please.
So you think go for midfield depth then?

Truth is our side is a rare gem stone worn on a piece of household string. You know? A grade defender, A grade forward, and a couple of A grade mids. Having this high end class means it drops away quickly therefore we don't get the use out of the A graders. We desperately need players in all areas of the ground.

Whilst it's nice showing off the best delicacies behind the glass. Without a core group behind it there is no point in having them at all. That's why we have failed, we focus on the star players, the big membership base, the crowds etc. Give Richmond a team of scrubbers and a good coach and the crowd will turn up anyway.

The whole field needs depth.

a lot of dogs second/third tier would be duds under a mediocre coach with a bad game plan as well...

Our list isn't that bad, our midfield is actually good, the problem there is work rate.

We could do with a better ruckman, and and better key position stocks (i still think Griffiths will be a good player.)
our list, while it isn't great, isn't that poor either.

Give a team like the western bulldogs our game plan and unaccountable culture an they would be in a similar position.

Not depth as such, depth is Andrew Moore and Jacob Townsend. Yuck.
We need midfield jets.
Obviously Prestia will come and Mitchell would be amazing (dreaming I know) but I'd even look at Steele from GWS as a developing young midfielder with future a-grade potential. Keeping pick 6 and drafting the best available midfielder should also be a priority.
Bulldogs showed what you can do with a solid midfield and lack of KPP

Heard from a reliable source Marley Williams has a heavy recreational drug addiction and that Collingwood aren't even going to offer him a contract for next year as a result hence why he's being shopped round. Although I initially thought he could provide the hard edge we've missed desperately since Jackson, King, Petterd departed this information makes me worried. Balmey should make the right call here as he'd know the situation coming from the pies.

I'd be amazed if this was true only due to him avoiding a jail term less than 18 mths ago. Would have thought he'd be subject to testing and good behaviour conditions. If it is true then pass pass pass. Balme would know the truth
