Half an hour driving home listening to SEN about us giving up 6 I was ready to kick the dog, especially coming after the good news of Lids being open to a move to GWS it was a big let down. It would be a very different trade period if GWS hadn't come on the scene, it loosened GCS up to even give us a pick this year and we've been good enough to take advantage for once.

The Caddy thing falling in our lap due to Prestia and Geelongs cap pressure, lids going to GWS and Sydney not digging their heels in it seems like we got lucky but we've put ourselves in good positions in the first place. The Prestia deal was shit, but we've worked other things to our advantage and been prepared to take a loss in one trade to get some wins in others so credit where it's due.
If GWS had came to us earlier, the trade period might have been able to keep pick 6. Ah well it is what it is.

If we're going to win a flag it's got to be next year before the GWS Juggernaught goes into full swing.

Caddy is an elite midfielder (According to Champion Data) and obviously losing him for a crap pick is not what we need to win a flag.
I could live with the cats getting a flag next year because I actually like them, but not with a 2 man team IMO.

It's pretty simple guys.

You lot wanted Caddy as a straight swap for Lids - we said no as we think Caddy carries more value.

It's now looking likely that he will go to GWS for pick 15.

Why would we then trade him for pick 24 if we think he carries more value than someone who went for 15?

Not to mention that Selwood said "he will be at Geelong in "2017".

Can't see Wells co-operating with us after we told him that we wouldn't trade Lids to Geelong lol.

I think the interview went like this:

SEN: When did you know you were out of the Deledio race?
Wells: When Richmond said they'd never trade him to Geelong

:D
he was made to look like a naughty schoolboy

Deledio also said he won't be going anywhere this year, turns out he was speaking to you guys from as early as July about moving across.

You won't be getting a first round pick for Caddy, 24 or 27 and that's it.

You're getting confused sweetie.
GWS rate him at #15, not you. You are not GWS.
Maybe you rated him at #30, therefor you would be getting more than the last offer.
