He wasn't when they picked pierce over him thou
Yes he was, Longer is our best ruckman still in a lot of eyes, shoulder reco effected his start, Hickey's excellent form kept him out, then concussion effects meant he was sidelined for a month and still hasn't returned. Pierce would never get a game over Longer, he's the better forward of the 3 so he would play if we play 2 rucks, whereas Longer will either play as number 1 ruck or not at all. At 21 he had 51 hitouts 20 touches 15 contested 3 coasted marks V Carlton, his ceiling is massive in the opinions of a lot of supporters and I'm sure the coaching staff as well, still think we get decent value if he wants out as there'd be a few suitors, prefer to sign him on a 2 year deal though and trade either him or hickey next year to get maximum value.

It's mostly your win
Disagree

GCS could get the best kid they want + all their academy kids, or they can get their academy kids.
I can't see Brisbane not bidding on Bowes. Or a few other teams who will finish below them as they will win a few more.
What was once pick 4, is likely to be 7. Plus Melbourne's pick, which will be 8-10.

1 & a 2nd rounder for 7 & 8/9/10
that said, with a plethora of 2nd rd picks + likely they will get decent picks from the Jaeger/Prestia trades.

I don't think the Lions will bid on him. They need outside mids, Bowes is inside. Teams don't sacrifice their future bidding on players they don't need in an attempt to make their rival slightly weaker should they match the bid. Also, I don't really understand what you mean by 4 becoming 7.
Gold Coast will finish higher than their current position. Their 1st round pick has been talked about being 4 and dropping
It will slide a little more.

How is what he said an explanation? He just asked you to explain because there has been about 10 posts in the last page with people explaining why it works!

Oh please... ess don't give up enough.. we're theoretically giving up pick 1! Not long ago, saints declined a 2 top 10 trade offer from the giants didn't they?
Saints turned down 1 and 21 for 4 and 7, which proves the point that the Bombers need to chuck in a 2nd rounder

imagine he would be.
not sure why GWS would be looking, doesnt fill a need up there.
Essendon seems most likely, if he were to move, as he would be an upgrade on McKernan IMO.
I said as much on our board... I can only guess that they see him as strong support and a possible replacement for Mumford..would be ironic as they have Daw Simpson there now. To due to their over flowing list , Cats would probably do better from a GWS trade than Ess.

You are clearly unfamiliar with GWS' ruck depth.
Mumford, Simpson, Downie and Flynn.

1 top line ruck, 1 back up that has experience and can fill a need and 2 youngsters that have talent, one that can play IMO (Downie)

if you are calling that weak ruck depth, chuck a look at my team. That is the definition of lack of depth!

true, but struggling to see how Vardy gets a game up there.....
Patton, Lobb and Cameron are the forwards, with Mumford as the ruck, although he is 30.
dont think Vardy is good enough to be the number 1 ruck, so doesn't really help them there.

IMO he would have GWS last, in terms of opportunity

I suspect they see Patton and Lobb as a possible exit. Certainly not a #1 imo

I think teams always care who wins the most. It's at the heart of trading really. And the market is liquid enough to easily resolve lopsided deals.
