Would Jack Steele and a second rounder be asking too much for Deledio?
Probably. I think those deals would be completed separately if they were to go through.

Trade 1: Tigers give Deledio in exchange for Cats/Giants 1st rounder (which ever comes earlier - most likely Giants)
Trade 2: Tigers give 2nd round pick (early to mid 20's) for Steele (That's what I value him at however he could cost more)

As a neutral, would think they'd have to give up their first (Pick 15-18). Might have to throw in some steak knives.
Agree, this sounds reasonable, depending on what the steak knife was (Steele/Marchbank/Tomlinson?).
Would then try to on trade that pick to Gold Coast for Prestia.
Trade B Ellis and 2017 pick or pick upgrade in Sydney's favour (wouldn't involve 1st rounder) to Sydney for Mitchell . Ellis gives them outside run and extra points and we get an inside midfielder.

So lose Deledio, B Ellis and 2017 2nd/3rd rounder
Pick up Prestia, Steele and Mitchell.

Instantly improve our inside midfield depth and keep our 1st rounders.

Wow. That seems pretty crazy.

I think all of those trades are wildly imbalanced.

Wouldn't Prestia be worth more than Deledio? I mean, he's good - but he must be 30 or so.

He's a free agent next year, so given the value that players like Dal Santo, Goddard got, I wouldn't have thought his value would be too much.

I like him and think he's pretty talented as an inside mid. I'd consider him at Collingwood; what do you value him at?
The system means better players in system are quite often rated less than kids playing against kids. Be lucky to get a late R1 to an early R2 yet he is almost certainly a batter player now then when drafted.

Should the Tigers and Deledio mutually split, I see a deal with the Giants possible in the same way the Shaw/Adams deal was sorted out. I think the Giants will be keen to keep their first rounders, so I think it'll be established talent and experience (Deledio) for future talent and potential.

Tigers give: Deledio, 2017 2nd rounder
Giants give: Steele and Marchbank

The downside of that deal is too much for Rich imo. To move Deludio on there must be an obvious win or they should not do it. GWS would need to add a player to that for mine. Good fringe player perhaps like Barrett for eg.

Yep can see it from that pov as well... but if that happens then the Tigers can say it was not their choice

This 18 team competition is so hard. 17 teams supporters(not GWS) are trying to manufacture easy ways to be Premiership contenders, but it is just not easy.

With Richmond the latest subject at hand, they either go for a player like Prestia or Mitchell with probably their first Pick and have another go at having a longshot crack at the Finals....or they cut pretty deep and start over.

If they decide to cut deep, they have 5 guns at their disposal.

I would definately think Rance is untouchable. And Jack Riewoldt also probably untouchable. Bookends.

Brett Delidio is past the age where he is gonna draw a Top 10 pick in return i would think. What he would bring isn't enough to help change a stale list into a more top end talent young list.

So that leaves Martin and Cotchin.

Martin is young enough to be a key part of the hoped for list that is the aim of the exercise.

So as unpalatable as it might be, the skipper is probably the one who needs to go.

Its bloody hard to improve a list these days and keep supporters happy enough not to burn the joint down.

In an 18 team comp, all 17 teams are gonna go through this in the next 10 years. The Dogs and Dees probably best placed for the medium term as a result of their time down the bottom and astute recent drafting.

I'd be looking at chucking in our first as well. And trying to get 3 or 4 players back like Carlton managed.

Deledio and #7

for

Smith, Patton, Steele

Lobb, Tomlinson, Stewart, Kelly/Whitfield, Marchbank all appeal to me.

I think Brett Deledio is their best player, can play anywhere from half back to half forward and uses the ball well - he makes those around him better.

I would love to have the luxury of throwing him on half back at Fremantle but I think he is worth more to Richmond. GWS have Collingwood's pick, Richmond will want that.

They'll need more than their 1st pick. 2x 1st rounders

gws enquiring about deledio according to mark stevens and if available will go hard so what would they have to give up
Depends how much of Deledio's salary Richmond are paying.

On his own, the Geelong pick would probably do it.

If they are paying a chunk of his salary going forward, then GWS' other trade currency (possibly including Steele) comes into play.
