When he's on, he's really good. Averaged 2 goals a game last year and just under that the year before. Even if he's out of the best 22, he would make a very fine rotational option. Should Jenkins leave the Crows, he'd make a good replacement I think, unless you're prepared to give the position straight to McGovern. His abiltiy in the ruck you could also utilise I reckon.

I imagine Fremantle would want him too.
No chance in hell. The club has made the statement, Ross has made the statement that we will be going to the draft table.

You can bet your left nut on that. We might fiddle with picks to try and move up, but getting in mature age players for draft picks would be ZERO chance.

Ok maybe if we could land him for one of our spuds, it might work, but I highly doubt that also.

If we wanted spuds on our list, we'd keep the 10 rumoured to be on their way out.

I would really love Deledio at the Dogs to be honest, think he would fit us perfectly.
Its tricky,he is a massive gun but at almost 30 and with achilles issues a 1st rounder is a risk for any club.

Regardless whoever suggested gws is way of they need to shed cap not add more cap burden.at his age he would only be looking at going to a contender so if he wanted to stay in vic hawthorn geelong or dogs would be obvious candidates.

I reckon he stays at richmond anyway.

Fair first step. The real test will be when, as expected, the kids don't do so well in their first game. Will they hold their nerve and give them a block of games or will they feel the need to rush back in mature players.

As a first step, they have passed in my book. Well done for them doing this.

Stay tuned...
In fairness each of the youngsters held their own.

Drummond, Lennon and C. Ellis the best of the lot IMO ... To come in over the next few weeks.

Hard to blame anyone for thinking we don't have any young talent when they're left to plunder in the twos behind uber-spuds. But I can assure people that is not the case. If they can take the next step is the big question.

The better question is why has it taken 2/3rds of a season to give some of them a chance though. Either Hardwick is as stubborn as anything or he's a poor coach, it is one of the two.

They've had their goes sporadically. Castagna was close last year then got injured. They just haven't got the opportunity all at once.
Drummond came into the side and did his ACL

Lennon has had glandular fever and now a
Leg injury all year.

Rioli Menadue C.Ellis and Short have played most of the year.

Markov had the best first session Chocco had ever seen. But his VFL performances have been mediocre. He's better in the open nature of AFL footy.

McBean is the one that annoys us most. Should've had far more opportunities. Vickery has
been shizenhousen for 6 weeks now. But then again there is talk that Bean has been sulking it up (rightly or wrongly) and that he could be off to the Bombers.

The reason he has been stubborn and not committed 100% to these kids is because he believed they could turn it around and make 8th.

That ship has sailed and the kids are in.

My view has always been the same, whats the point in coming 8th? Despite what the coach may say you aint winning a flag from 8th. It just won't happen. Unless you have a side to come in the top 6, you should be all about development. Now that doesn't mean play 20 youngsters but it means stop playing rubbish players like Taylor Hunt, Vickery, etc. These players are not helping you win a premiership, they are denying good youngsters a chance. McBean deserves to be filthy if Vickery somehow got regular games ahead of him. If the option is Taylor Hunt...Markov should have played earlier.

Oh I agree entirely. Just telling you how it's played out.

Yes I understand, I'd be livid with that if I were a Richmond fan though especially if it costs you McBean who could be a very good 2nd or 3rd tall behind JR.
Hopefully he can perform well enough in the last 7 games to not only build his confidence at this level, but to hopefully feel a part of the future. Vickery won't be at the club next season. Belatedly, he has his chance.

When you bring a youngster in you have to give them a block of games (at least 3). The worst thing Richmond have done with McBean is give him a game, then drop him. What was the point of even giving him a game? He's a KPF/utility, give him more than a game.

Agreed and he's actually presented well in his 3 games. Impacted the contests without getting on the scoreboard. Far more than we can say for Vickery who runs away from ball or runs into Jack. I like what I've seen I just hope he hasn't checked out. Plenty of scope for improvement and I'd like to see it come to the fore with us. The club only has themselves to blame though.

On the flip side Rioli is afforded the luxury of playing when available because of our need for a small forward, his draft position and his surname. However he will be better for the run.

Some rules for some, not for others.

If he leaves Hardwick should take a long look at what he did. I hope he stays for you guys though, and just trade Vickery even for a future 2nd rounder or whatever. Sometimes youhave to cut your losses, we did the same with jesse White. Didn't matter what we got so long as he wasn't on our list.

Arguably easier in better sides but Swans introduced Papley Hewett and co and haven't taken a backwards step.
Alir Alir too, has looked good this year and will now get a block of games. Has got 3 games already this year. Mills and Heeney have also been introduced albeit they are special cases.

Yeah I'll take anything.

Bet you're kicking yourself now though. Cloke and White were formidable yesterday.

Yeah I was going to mention those two but they are obvious talents.

I was really impressed with Allir on Friday.

Not really as I have seen this before with White, one good game and then thinks he's done enough and proceeds to be a liability for the next 6 weeks.

Loook for the record I think Vickery needs a change in scenery and maybe a delisting or trading will do him the world of good, but right now he should be in the VFL earning his spot.

Look it is a balancing act, you can't play too many rookies, but at the same time whats the point going back to Hunt, Moore, etc...you know what they are, C or D graders at the absolute best.

No doubting that. By all accounts he presented well and ended up with a few marks and 2 behinds. Impressive stuff.
