No, this year.

Next year is a bumper crop, with Fyfe, Dusty and heaps of others - we could potentially be saving up some coin to go hard next year...
There is always a bumper crop 12 months out.problem is they pretty much all sign and then in 12 months you are talking about next year being a bumper crop. Rinse and repeat

That's true, but to be fair, Buddy didn't decide he'd hold off on re-signing with the Hawks just to test the market. If the club is building a war chest to bring in a big name FA, they'll have already made enquiries and had discussions.

If we don't get anyone, we've no shortage of young fellas that are well on their way to being superstars in their own right

We already have enough depth players. Need guns!
I remember he came into their side and played at least one pretty good game (30 touches or so) and is hard at it. Not sure if a Ben McGlynn type or Jonathan Simpkin type. Ironically, Simpkin got a premiership...will investigate.

haha yeah I remember seeing him in the NAB challenge and he looked really good.. could be worth a crack if we didn't have to give away much for him.

Pretty sure Mahoney said the other day that they were comfortable with not making a pick until the 3rd round due to the success we've been having with late selections the last few years.

If Essendon are happy to take 26, just deal it. They won't want to take the risk of next years ... because they clearly know we'll finish Top 4

This draft doesn't have any stand out top 5 types, and apparently will run deep for mid/late first round types.

I suspect we would actually like to keep a top 30 pick for a slider.

Sorry Boris, I do love you.

But Will Minson would be akin to a joint selection of Karl Langdon, Stephen Milne, Lindsay Thomas and Donald Trump!..

Hahaha all good. I knew what the comment would bring. The funny thing is there is no grey area here.

No doubt we'd like to keep our 2nd rounder this year and offer next year's, it won't happen tho.

Can't imagine they would take next years second straight up.

You never know, we may try to cut it with a third this year and second next or whatever.
Yeah, I'm sure we'll give it a go, just like they'll try to get our 2nd and 3rd together, but it'll likely end up exactly where its expected.

I was quite surprised when Dodoro sounded so uncharacteristically pragmatic about the deal.

No way I'd trade Salem for him either. ANB and next year's second might get close.

You'd be laughed off the trade table for offering up a fringe player (albeit young and still developing) and future 2nd round pick for a 3 time premiership player who has kicked 40+ goals in the last 5 seasons.

Perhaps. Depends on how badly the Hawks needed to move Breust to get O'Meara and Mitchell.

My point was though, that Salem is near untradeable for me.

Completely agree.

Surely we've based our salary to land a big fish next year. Go for Fyfe first, then Heeney, then Martin
Hogan basically replaces Dawes' contract. We are in a great state with our cap space.

I'd start and end with Heeney.

I don't think Fyfe is gettable at a sensible price and I don't want Martin anywhere near our team.

But I think Heeney would be awesome for us.

Unfortunately they will have deleted whatever it was that he did - but if it was that eat a dick freo flogs post then I am outraged because that was POTY worthy.

EDIT: Holy shitballs! I was kidding but that post has been deleted. Seriously the level of over-reaction sometimes to suspend someone is crazy.

I've been suspended many times and I have to say that every single time I deserved it

Would love to get involved with either Richmond or Hawthorn's trades with Gold Coast, We offer a player and next years 1st round in the deals for Prestia or O'Mera and see if we could get an early pick back from Gold Coast in this years draft.
