We don't have any currency to get these players unless we give up players or pull out on the Hibberd trade. Nobody wants guys that can't get a game, I mean we played a 20 year old KPD over the likes of Dunn and Garland and a 19 year old KPF over Dawes, not too mention our vanilla midfielders will all be delisted so teams can probably snap them up for free if they really want too.
Guys Like Steele and Marchbank have nominated teams aswell which always limits our bargining power. Haynes and Corr are contracted till 2018, Buntine and Tomlinson till the end end of 2017. Only one out of contract is Ahern and he's done 2 knees already I get where you're coming from but next year is the time to raid some of these guys.

The point is that if they nominate us we can get them for huge unders, as is the case with Steele. We don't have any currency to get these players unless we give up players or pull out on the Hibberd trade. Best mates from high school, I'm told, by mates who went to Trinity.Just quietly, reckon Tomlinson might be in the gun for us next year. Tommy Mac, Dom, Adam and Bugg all went on their end of season trip together, Dom and Adam are close by the looks of it
Thats true it's a good deal for the Saints but Steele is leaving GWS because he can't get minutes in their midfield, why would he come to us when he would have the same issue here?I agree that when players nominate a club, it limits our bargaining power. However, these players dont just pluck a team from the sky. Clubs are in their ears and put a lot of work into getting them interested. I'm surprised we weren't more into GWS players too. Steele for a future 2nd rounder is a bargain. Well done to the Saints. They are building nicely..

There is nothing to say that we aren't.I agree. Im not saying we go after Steele. He'd be handy yes, but not guaranteed a game. Im saying we should be in other players ears. Tomlinson, Whitfield etc..
I don't see how this is different to Hibberd nominating us and getting him for unders? The point is that if they nominate us we can get them for huge unders, as is the case with Steele.
I hope we are too mate, reckon we're still going to pull off a trade out of nowhere, could definitely be one of the GWS ladsI agree. Im not saying we go after Steele. He'd be handy yes, but not guaranteed a game. Im saying we should be in other players ears. Tomlinson, Whitfield etc..
And GWS said Tom Boyd wouldn't be traded for any price."Hawthorn list manager Graham Wright says he doesn't believe Jordan Lewis now wants to go to Melbourne, describing the midfielder again as a "contracted and required player".
Wright, who is speaking to the media now, said Lewis was never put on the trade table by the Hawks and if Lewis decided he wanted to leave the Hawks, the club would not let him.
"As of yesterday afternoon we decided we didn't want Jordan to go anywhere ... we felt he was a required player," Wright said.
"We're not in any discussions with Melbourne."
Wright said Lewis did not want to go to Melbourne as far as he knew. "
Feels like there is more to play out on this one. These things don't just go away.
God I'm totally wise person. I just read that sentence above and thought wow - why did you bother even writing that you git, Gander. This quitting smoking has side effects I hadn't anticipated.
Imagine you coach rings you to come round for a visit and you are expecting him to tell you that you are the new captain. Then he turns up and says we might have to let you go to free up cap room for one promising mid (Mitchell), one kid who hasn't played for two years and Ty ****ing Vickery ffs. It's growing strong legs Lewis wants out.
I'd be filthy too if I scrifices coin for years and a spud like Vickery comes in on $500k a year.
Not to mention the blokes who's knees aren't holding up to well and is after $700-750k
