Number 1 pick is overrated, how man top picks did we have fail because they came into the wrong environment
I dont care if they get number 1, the best player in the draft is almost never that player

I would probably push their picks to the end of the round, or at the very least their first round. I think it will get plenty of press later in the year that's for sure, and no club will be happy about it.

I think just to mid round for the first. Put their first rounder after all the other non finalists. Realistically they weren't playing finals at full strength, so it isn't a handicap relative to the finals sides, but it doesn't punish nine non-finalists for the actions of a drug cheat.

I guess the thing is they are being artificially weakened because of what they did. I don't have an issue with them having a first rounder - but the Dons with those 12 is better than the Dons with 10 extras and without them. Their own idiocy shouldn't reward them with the best kid in the country.

I'm okay with them picking after all the non-finalists i.e. at 10th overall.

The number 1 pick isn't a player, the number 1 pick is a choice - or the choice rather of taking whichever player you want from the draft pool. It's not about Essendon getting the best player, it's about them getting to take the player who ever finishes last (Carlton) wanted just because they're in a situation where they'll finish 18th instead this year because they've been punished and next year will be a totally different side.
