He has to be actually delisted for that to happen tho, its not automatic when a player is out of contract. So the club can keep him on the list, without a new contract for the Trade Period to shop him around, if there is no takers and we still don't want him, then he'd be a Delisted Free Agent, and could go where he pleases.
Which really only works if there is more than 1 party interested.

Thoughts on offering Petrie a year? It would be a year of "you're probably playing VFL" but he may want to keep going...

He might be cooked, but if there was a spot on the list... he'd offer us both a backup ruck option for a year, and could also be a big bodied presence up forward while Weid continues to develop (and we need insurance in case Hogan and Gawn miss games).

I'd rather keep Dawes than get Petrie

Would prefer Boomer. Would turn Kent into a superstar.

Getting boomed for a year or two wouldn't be the worst, I hate the attitude of 'taking a game off a kid'
If we have someone who can outperform boomer harvey next year then who gives a shit if we are paying a bloke 250-300k a season to be a reserves player

He could surely teach some blokes about training habits

I see the theme here, but Dal Santo?

I would take him if we don't get Hibberd.

If we do get Hibberd then I'm happy with Salem/Melksham on a wing.

I don't love it.

With Petracca, Garlett, Bray, Vanders and maybe Harmes capable of going forward we don't need him.

Good user but at his age and position it's not worth it when we aren't ready to challenge.

Just leave him on the curb with a free sign. I did that with an old couch in St Kilda, gone in an hour. So then I put a selection of questionable electrical items, a still in wrapping lava lamp, some fuzzy dice and a vintage smurf colouring book out and that lot was snapped up in 40 minutes, however I did get a threatening letter and personal visit from a council bloke as well.
*kerb

Please I hope we don't even entertain any of those North blokes.
As good as some have been, they're done.
Boomer could go around again but I'd question how good a teacher/leader he would be to some of our young blokes.
Rate him, always have but have always considered him a very selfish footballer

Wouldn't mind give Nicky Dal one year to be honest. Would be like Cross and bring a wealth of knowledge to club. Could play out the season in the firsts or sit along in the 2's as a reserve

Whats the latest with Trengrove and Grimes?

Your guess is as good as ours. I'm assuming that's why you have no replies yet. Personally I think (hoping?) we keep Trengove for at least another year. He was excellent over his first couple of years, then carried the foot injury for most of his next couple, then spent two years out trying to get it right, then came back this year without even two months back in full training.

Many here have been commenting that he looks very slow, but I'd rather make that call on him after he's had a crack at a full pre-season. The situation could be (again hoping) that the coaches were happy for him to spend this year getting back some match fitness and touch while we get some good experience into some younger players, then everyone starts battling for spots next year with a decision to be made on who makes the cut then.

However, it could also be that they feel they gave him 3 games to show he was better than the younger guys and wasn't convincing, so he's out. I guess we wait and see.

I reckon Jack Grimes is gone though. He's a very good medium sized defender (very good one-on-one, reads the play well, good overhead intercept marking and can find plenty of it) but they haven't played him there for two years despite him not having many injury concerns. I think the concerns are that he's not a great kick/decision maker and not quick enough for the mobile defense that we appear to be trying to build. Particularly if we get Hibberd, we'll have a number of options for that role who, though many also aren't great kicks (Harmes, Wagner), give better run/counter attack ability. He's been tried through the midfield/wing and elsewhere with wildly varying results, but we've also got plenty of younger players lining up for those positions.

I think the game has gone past Dal Santo this year. He shirks the contest sometimes and only seems to run hard one way.

Not sure I'm comfortable with all the Dawes bashing going on. Think as a Dees player he deserves a bit more respect regardless of his recent form.

There were days when we took him in, vastly over paid for him and swallowed every botched mark in the forward 50 with a smile on our face.

Nice guy, apparently a good club man, but its well and truly time for him to stop being an average overpaid footballer, and start being an average overpaid lawyer

I probably should have been clearer ... In no way do I have any desire to trade Salem, I'm a big fan. It was merely a response to the supposed interest from Essendon in making him a part of the Hibberd deal, and the discussion to his value to us, and his value on the open market etc.

That is still waaaaaay in favour of Essendon though.

JOM would be great but we have nothing to give for him :(
Dawes, hes a great leader & the need leadership. M Jones will add some pace. Not srs.

I doubt they'd do it but Garland & next years first rounder. Or change Garland with ANB or Salem who both have potential.

On his day he is a very good defender.

I do see him being worth 2 first round picks. If he was playing to the potential we've seen, yes, but he has hardly player for two years.

Its a risk but for the right price I love to take it.
