If it is true that Geelong are shopping Motlop, gee I hope we don't chase him after tonight's performance. Far too big a gap between his best and worst, and his best comes rare enough as it is.
Sounds perfect for us then

Parish is a seriously limited footballer. Not sure where the potential comes from??

Vanilla accumulator with no particular line-breaking dash, clearance abilities or classy skills. Will be a good player, but Oliver has way more upside.

Hey, be quiet! Essendon are a big four club and the media will be alerted to this not paying enough credit to parish. How dare you speak ill of their next James Hird (The player not the coach)

Parish has skill and class but after watching a 19 year old Oliver completely destroy Williamstowns more seasoned players physically then i know who id rather have. Oliver was doing that in the AFL but not to the extent of last week. Wait till he hits 50 games.. wowee...

Its like asking who would you rather have out of Andrew Gaff or Luke Parker. Simple answer really.

So glad we didnt draft Parish, 30 minutes of u18 film told you all you needed to know, he isnt damaging, has no match winning qualties whatsoever, clearly not worth a top 10 pick, reminds me of Chris Heffernan

inb4 YouTube video of match-winning goal against us.

any player can get on the end of a chain and finish from 30m out straight in front. Its not even beyond Dawesy.

I think some of you need to open the other eye with Parish. He's an absolute gun. Would I swap Oliver for him? No, but only because I think Oliver is an exceptional talent. I reckon Parish is better than Brayshaw.
Interestingly, there's this poster on Demonland who has a 100% strike rate with rumours and gossip. He's only ever said about three or four things but one of them was that we changed our minds from Parish to Oliver just 24 hours before the draft.

I'm not sure about him. What are his standout attributes? From the 4-5 Essendon games I've watched in full this year his disposal was decent but not outstanding, he isn't quick and isn't a big body. Oliver has some clear flaws in his fitness but his toughness aside he is brilliant with the ball in congestion and his kicking is a lot better than I originally thought. He is also at a guess the same speed as Parish despite being much more an inside player.

You're so casually brutal sometimes you should change your username to Patrick Bateman.

If we lose Hogan, trade him for Fyfe and go after Swans' Sam Reid. Would come cheaper than he would of a few years ago and was a gun as the main man in their 2012 premiership year. Reid actually leads up at the footy and is a reliable shot for goal. By no means is he better than Jesse, but would definitely soften the blow.

Errrr, i assume you mean the same Sam Reid who plays two games a year because of injuries?

No thanks.

Sam Reids body is built like a wet paper bag.

Hes finished.

If Hogan dose want to leave, and we get pick 3 from Freo maybe we could do another Dom & Salem deal with GWS send pick 3 to GWS for a player or players and pick 7? (WHE & Stewart?) As HS has an article they are keen to get Vic metro defender Andy McGrath and might not last till 7 with them having to use that on Academy pick if someone bids.

WHE was drafted the pick after Tyson and has done sweet f all since he joined. Doesn't even dominate the NEAFL. Another one of those illustrious pick fours, along with Morton and Toumpas.

Sorry for intruding just wondering, would Jack Grimes have any potential as a 3rd tall in defence?!

Nah, he's only 187-188cm from memory. Good lock down on smalls and medium forwards though.

His first couple years at Melbourne he was a gun 3rd/4th tall.. brilliant spoiling defender and doesn't get beaten
His decision making and kicking isn't good enough to be in the back half at AFL level now though

People have short memories. Parish is a handy midfielder but Brayshaw was busting games open on another level in 2014, he has an impact capacity well above Parish's.

Yeah can't say i agree with that at all. Brayshaw started slow then hit some good form mid year before he copped a knock which slowed him right down.

Brayshaw was good but Parish was better this year. Was consistent all year. In fact Clayton Oliver had a much better year then Brayshaw. Oliver is definitely a definition of a first year player busting open packs and making a huge contribution to our side.
