Hutchy mentioned on FC that both Hibberd and Hurley could be on the move, potentially even to the same club. Doubt Hurley leaves but they are managed by the same guy.
What would Dee's give up for Hibberd?
Wouldn't want to give 2nd rounder this year after losing first

Someone like Jack Grimes and a later pick maybe?
Simply too lean to go into a draft for a team that isn't challenging.Yeah, as much as he's a good player I'm a bit worried about giving up the second rounder after trading our first too.

Yes a few 1 pick for 2 over a few years. I remember a discussion on SEN1116 about the best way to rebuild. Can't remember who the conversation was between maybe Harf and someone, but the gist of the conversation was what's better for rebuilding having the top pick something in the top 3 or getting in 2 picks in the first round. The conclusion was that getting 2 picks is better because the top picks don't always work out. Take 07 for example the beginning of Melbourne's first rebuild. Melbourne had pick 4 used on Morton but trade pick 4 and get in picks 10 & 12 you get Dangerfield and rioli. Obviously I'm fantasising Melbourne would of still find away to pick up duds like a veszpremi or something but I think worse cases scenario one gun one dud instead of just one dud. Anyway back to our current rebuild I think the Dom Tyson and Salem for Josh Kelly has been a win win. I think Melbourne trading this year's first rounder was forward thinking. The way I see it is weiderman is effectively this years pick in advance. I'm not really sure what the talent pool is like for this years draft. But I think that Melbourne were happy where the list at and any midfielder or forward wouldn't get a game anyway.I've got no problem with Melb trading away there 2nd rounder for Hibberd we have brought in a a lot of top end talent the last few years and lot of kids so still lot of improvement in them, so i think Melb are happy with the young talent coming through and can now start to trade some picks away for certain players. Also i wouldn't be surprised in they didn't trade next year first rounder away too for a top midfielder.
He can leave as a delisted free agent if he wishes. If he really wants to come to Melbourne (or another club) and doesn't want a trade holding it up. It's probably in his best interest to do that too (why would you want to screw the club you're moving to?).
Saints and us would disagree with you on that after last yearEssendon will not be in a strong negotiating position if any of the banned players nominate another club.
Second round pick would get it done.
That was pre-suspensions. The DFA clause is there but Essendon could fight it. I suspect that the MFC will say:Saints and us would disagree with you on that after last year
