Frost off the bench. Bugg plays a lot of time down back too.

Nah buggs been tagging in the midfield this year our back 6 against pies was wagner hunt Jetta macx2 and Frost
Been those 6 with frost/Dunn/Garland as the others

Frost and Hunt where quite useful at taking the game on and breaking the lines yesterday. Tmac was good too, but as per usual sometimes bites off more than he can chew.

Hibberd would make an excellent addition to our backline. Honestly would be thrilled to get either him or hurley

Hutchy mentioned on FC that both Hibberd and Hurley could be on the move, potentially even to the same club. Doubt Hurley leaves but they are managed by the same guy.

What would Dee's give up for Hibberd?
Wouldn't want to give 2nd rounder this year after losing first

Someone like Jack Grimes and a later pick maybe?

Yeah, as much as he's a good player I'm a bit worried about giving up the second rounder after trading our first too.
Simply too lean to go into a draft for a team that isn't challenging.
Geelong did it but they brought in a bunch of ready made players and knew they were challenging

I've got no problem with Melb trading away there 2nd rounder for Hibberd we have brought in a a lot of top end talent the last few years and lot of kids so still lot of improvement in them, so i think Melb are happy with the young talent coming through and can now start to trade some picks away for certain players. Also i wouldn't be surprised in they didn't trade next year first rounder away too for a top midfielder.

Yep, happy to give up a second rounder for Hibberd too.. We'll probably trade our way back into the second (or even first) round later anyway..

Good to see we are looking at bolstering the area we need most.

Let's be realistic guys, Essendon will want more than a second rounder.

Given who we're targeting plus Melkshakes to come into the team off half-back next year I think this spells the end of Grimes, Mitch White, and Terlich (no shock there lol), with Lumumba on fair warning, lucky he's contracted for 1-2 more seasons.

Yes a few 1 pick for 2 over a few years. I remember a discussion on SEN1116 about the best way to rebuild. Can't remember who the conversation was between maybe Harf and someone, but the gist of the conversation was what's better for rebuilding having the top pick something in the top 3 or getting in 2 picks in the first round. The conclusion was that getting 2 picks is better because the top picks don't always work out. Take 07 for example the beginning of Melbourne's first rebuild. Melbourne had pick 4 used on Morton but trade pick 4 and get in picks 10 & 12 you get Dangerfield and rioli. Obviously I'm fantasising Melbourne would of still find away to pick up duds like a veszpremi or something but I think worse cases scenario one gun one dud instead of just one dud. Anyway back to our current rebuild I think the Dom Tyson and Salem for Josh Kelly has been a win win. I think Melbourne trading this year's first rounder was forward thinking. The way I see it is weiderman is effectively this years pick in advance. I'm not really sure what the talent pool is like for this years draft. But I think that Melbourne were happy where the list at and any midfielder or forward wouldn't get a game anyway.

Hibberd is a very good player. He'd be a solid pick up for you guys. As much as we've had our issues this year, the main one is we simply have a back line filled with guys who can't kick/make good decisions. We eventually turn it over and hand teams goal after goal. Hurley and Hibberd (as well as obviously Fletcher) have always been those that we turn to as really good users of the footy.

2nd round pick is probably slightly unders, but I imagine would probably end up being the deal. 2nd round pick was too much for Melksham, 2nd round pick isn't quite enough for Hibberd, balances out.

He can leave as a delisted free agent if he wishes. If he really wants to come to Melbourne (or another club) and doesn't want a trade holding it up. It's probably in his best interest to do that too (why would you want to screw the club you're moving to?).

Can't see it happening, AFL won't want it.

Essendon will not be in a strong negotiating position if any of the banned players nominate another club.

Second round pick would get it done.
Saints and us would disagree with you on that after last year

That was pre-suspensions. The DFA clause is there but Essendon could fight it. I suspect that the MFC will say:

"Here's a 2nd rounder for Hibberd. We know it's slight unders but we gave you a second for Melksham. Take it and we don't push the DFA clause."

I suspect the Dons take it and run. They still need to rebuild, the suspended 12 won't repair their shit forward line or their lack of grunt. I expect them to try to pillage draft picks again.

I think the above also keeps us out of the Hurley shitfight that is going to happen once Hawthorn/GWS/North decide to throw the kitchen sink at him.
