Neeld did manage to get pick 88 for Morton though, which is perhaps the best trade we've ever pulled off.

Most of us probably would've given up a pick just to get rid of Morton!

Neither Vardy or Vickery get me excited for reasons already stated. Are we that desperate for a forward ruck? Really? Suprised no one has mentioned Mitch Clark [emoji14]

What do you reckon guys? He's injury prone and shit, a mixture of Vickery and Vardy, everyones happy then. I also hear he likes money, just like Daweshy. Man, he sounds likes right campaigner.

Would prefer to keep and play Pederson in that role

We have enough Inside mids.. infact too many
We have Grimes Trenners ANB and Michie playing regular reserves this year, we need some more players who are smart around goal or are brilliant intercept markers .. We need to find our own Matthew Suckling and Puopolo .. Someone who can kick us out of trouble and someone who works twice as hard without the footy than with it
A key back would be nice aswell who doesnt go for stupid low passes he cant achieve

I think BenKen could play the Puopolo role, this is by far the most AFL he has played in a single year so reckon he has just gotten tired.

This may not be a popular opinion but we need to seriously look at Vickery as a FA. Unless there is another Forward/ruck out there. We can't sustain Watts playing 5 or so mins a qtr in the ruck. He needs to be in the forward line. A player like Vickery would also allow us to Gawn up forward more. Another option would be Daw but can't see north letting him go.

We don't leaders we need winners, Chris Dawes is a leader off the field but he isn't a winner
We need players like Daniel Cross who would get themselves knocked out in their last game in an otherwise meaningless contest just so his team mates can win

If it's truly out of Vickery, Daw and Vardy, then we throw whatever we need to at Vardy to get the job done. I don't think we need to leap to just get anybody there though. It's a relatively small hole we can look to fill over the next 2-3 trade periods or hopefully develop from within.

It's no small hole. I'm happy if we make a decision and say ok Pedersen gets the gig. However he doesn't seem in favour. If we go into next season with Watts as a second ruck we're kidding ourselves. Frost didn't work Dawes isn't the answer. King hasn't yet come on and we can't play Spencer and Gawn every week.

So if we want to push for finals next year we need to grab someone. Vardy being better option than Vickery is arguable. But gee his injury prone. However will cost less in $.

He very rarely plays in the ruck this year when playing. Been Griffiths.

GWS were big into Buddy aswell, I hope we are big into Hurley but the dogs would be just about THE destination club atm

Agreed that it's a hole, and becomes a problem if we have injuries, but out of favour or not, Pedersen is twice the player Vickery is. He'll do for the next year or two, then hopefully either of the Kings or maybe Weid is ready to come on in that role. All teams have holes in their list somewhere and I don't want us to be rehoming spuds just because they notionally plug a gap. I'd actually rather we keep Dawes than get Vickery.

I just had a look at his stats and his going to kick over 30 in a shit house freo side again, a low scoring one at that
He's accurate and he gets a lot of goals from forward pressure, he's one bloke who loves to work hard
If we wanna play finals next year he's not a bad option for free as an upgrade on Dawes

Mayne's got six rounds to kick 12 goals to get to 30, no certainty to get there as he's currently averaging just over one a game.
I also doubt your suggestion that he's accurate.

He may statistically look an upgrade on Dawes but he would take a spot from someone else we could develop to be a 50-100 game player for us.

I watch a fair few Freo games and the amount of times he goes missing, or does something mind bogglingly stupid, outweighs a 1 goal a game output. Even if he was 'free' (which he wouldn't be, opportunity cost and all that)
