Daw will have a few suitors and he'll go somewhere that he's a chance to be first ruck, i.e. not Melbourne. He's a much better ruck than forward.

Yeah probably.

If we could get Griffiths on the cheap, he's that perfect 85/15 forward-ruck (not perfect as in a great player, but the perfect type we need).

Does anyone know if Weid can ruck at all? Or whether Max King has come on this year at Casey?

I think Max King will get the chop at years end, which sucks as if he was a bit better he'd be perfect for us. I don't want Weid near the ruck for at least the first few years of his career, no need to get him smashed against guys like Mumford.

What about Black from North?

Wouldn't be a bad pickup but is 192cm and 89kg, definitely can't ruck and is more a 3rd tall type that would compete with Watts. No for me.

I brought him up last time we had this conversation about ruck / forwards on the cheap, but worth a shot again - Liam McBean from Richmond?

Don't know much about him other than the fact that he's been kicking plenty of goals at VFL level and he can't get any consistent games with Richmond, even now that they've given up on finals. I don't know how much he's rucked before (I think he's been played primarily as a forward), but he's 202cm tall so he should be capable of at least competing in the ruck for 15-20 minutes a game and he's still only 21 so there's time to mold him. Been reading the thread about him on the Tigers board and the consensus seems to be that he shows a lot of promise but he's not been well developed or been given enough opportunity by Hardwick.

He'll probably never be a world beater, but I can remember thinking he looked pretty useful against us in an NAB match a while back. Should come cheap given the Tigers don't want to play him. Thoughts?

Problem is that he makes Cale Morton look like Arnie..

If we are going for Forward/Ruckman then Toby Nankervis could be on our rader. From the sydney swans and been playing some good footy in the NEAFL. Shane Mumford in the way he goes about and does take marks up forward and kicks goals.

We don't need a second ruck. Watts is the best player in that role in the comp. We need some outside class and pace and we need Oscar and Weideman to get in the gym.

Might as well make it three in a row.

Would we be interested in Shane Edwards?

Turns 28 next October, would offer some outside class and pace. I don't know whether I would, but just floating the idea.
Good shout. He's the type of player we need to be after and Richmond should be willing to trade after their year.

On the drafts and trades board, one poster is claiming Essendon have approached Salem's management. Make of that what you will.

Remember seeing him play for Sydney, hes a massive unit and one of those players you could see becoming decent with good game time

We are getting the number 1 draft pick?
