Is he really that slow? I would have considered Viney "slow" until this year, i think he could get fitter, the longer you can go the faster you look. Dylan Shiel is another player i would have considered "slow" early days, i dont actually think he is super quick or anything now, he does seem to have improved his speed, but i think he just runs harder for longer than most, similar to Viney, if you could turn Wines into such a athlete you would have a dead set beast.

Wines is averaging 26 disposals and 5 tackles a game, hes already a very very good player but Im not sure he will ever improve on that
Viney was always quick he just never knew how to use it, if all it took was a future first rounder and we werent highly impressed with who we could get at that pick id do it but he wouldnt be at the top of my shopping list

Id take him over Prestia though

Fair enough, I normally agree with most if not all things A11 says in regards to players but im not sure we really need another inside midfielder when we have Trenners and ANB playing reserves footy
Not even sure if Irony is correct in this situation but how ******* funny would it be if Toumpas was at Port at Wines requested a trade to Melbourne and we somehow paid less than pick 5

We probably dont need another inside mid, but if talent like that came knocking at your door i dont think i could say no assuming we arent getting bent over at the trade table. I think of Wines as a Shiel without the Shiel price tag, perhaps there are clubs out there with a similar line of thought to you and think he has flatlined and we could get him for what i would deem a reasonable price. (for one first round pick i would trade for him).

Imagine Jack and Ollie training together over the pre season, i could see them pushing each other to be the best they could be, both uber competitive beasts, i dont think you could go wrong having two guys like that in you midfield for another 8 years +

Viney and Shiel slow?
Those guys have great pace off the mark.

Yea, would you have said that before this year about Viney though? Kidding yourself if you say yes. He has improved his fitness/speed/stamina, that is why he is having a break out year this year, much like Shiel did the year before.

My point is if they can do it i dont see any reason why Wines couldnt also.

I will say one thing, I did question Vineys ceiling a couple years ago but I forgot to take into account his pure determination levels. He and Wines are the exact players who are candidates to flatline but then Viney ( and mayne wines ) have that extra 5% grit that make them special cases
Would I trade a first for him? Yep under the simple rule that you would be unlikely IMO to draft someone better than him. Shit a fair trade might be ANB + a future first rounder with a late pick coming back our way .. How would you feel about that

if we could combine cloke and dawes into one player we'd be golden
Two spuds just makes more portions of mashed potato. If we could melt them both down in a complex experiment though, I would be all for it because there would be no further temptation to play either once they are molten gooey stuff.

Also there has to be a limit to how many former Collingwood premiership players who have shown little or nothing since that we have to take. We're like some kind of Buckley clean out charity without even scoring Heath Shaw.

Its all dreamy dreams at the end of the day unless he wants to come for less than his market value. Hogan still number 1 priority for me. Despite the naysayers saying we no longer need him cause we are winning without him. There will be days down the road when the forward line is a complete mess and he will carry the team on his back to wins with 8 goals plus in a game.

Probably a fair trade, assuming we have a pick of 12 or below, id do it only for my m8 ANB, he needs to be unleashed and set free, he's too good to be going round at Casey every week. If Port werent satisfied with that then im not trading for Wines. That would be about as far as i would go. If they asked for say Billy Stretch instead, get stuffed.

Agreed because that would be sacrificing something we need for something we want
Not to say I don't rate ANB but I'd upgrade him for Viney's BFF

Here me out. Dawes can kick goals, cloke can't. Cloke can mark, Dawes can't. Combine the two into one person

Would definitely backfire. You would get an indifferent lawyer with concrete hands squished into a single, illegal glove that couldn't hit a range rover two feet away. And both have big arses so god knows what happens there.

Yeah we would get Danny Devito from the Twins movie not Arnie

If Wines wants to come to us, we're moving heaven and earth, /story.

I actually thought at the start of this year that he's just too big. Most say that his listed 92kg's is light for what he looks like, suggesting he's closer to the century, and for me, at 187cm, he's just carrying around too much bulk. I'm fully expecting to read all about his lighter frame during the off season. I know it can be some trial and error for some players, but for all the back slapping Darren Burgess gets for being such an amazing fitness coach, they've been fairly woeful in that area for a few years now.

The whole fitness thing is a ****ing wank IMO
People were saying our fitness was shit 2 years ago and Misso should be sacked... conveniently at the same time we were shit
Now we are playing well we are running games out and all our players look fit an healthy.. also we are winning... what a coincidence

Same thing at Port, they looked slow and sluggish and ran the game out like shit... but its cause they are playing shit nothing to do with the fitness guy

Their board can't stand Burgo, they've had a large amount of soft tissue injuries in the last 18 months.

Well yeah I would've, it was touted as one of his assets when he was drafted, just go and read the phantom drafts, it was there to see in his debut year, same with Shiel.
