I can't see us being a serious contender with Vince or in particular Harmes playing across half back. Not to say that Hibberd is necessarily the answer, but is an area where we're thin.

We need pace through the middle and one more kp who can go forward or back more than A player like Hibberd.

Getting Hibberd doesn't mean that's the end of trade period, we have aquired multiple players every year
Also you know how we get pace in the middle? Move Hunt there

Agree we need pace/class through the middle, that's probably our #1 need. And a KPF who can ruck probably #2. But I'd have half back flank as #3. I'm not convinced Salem is a long term solution there either - I think he'll be better either on a wing or half forward.

Essendon have had a rough year I reckon we help them out by giving them a couple of premiership stars and Melksham for Hibberd.

Hunt plays his best running off the half back line, why would we play him out of position when he's just starting to play good footy?

This year we don't have a first round pick and we won't have a club dumb enough to trade for a player like Howe.
How will we get anyone else decent with no picks in the first or second round?

How do we fix #1 or #2 if we blow our earliest pick on #3?

At the end of the day it won't be our earliest. At least I believe. Dunn Garland Dawes will be shopped for 2nd/3rd round picks which will be traded for academy points.

Plenty of pacey guys play half back because they aren't much as actual footballers, Hunt will be able to play on a wing no problems.

I think we might have a few guys leaving at the end of the year. Combine that with the points loopholes at the expansion clubs and I wouldn't be surprised to see us trade into the first round.

Who is going to give has a trade in the 2nd round?

These are the players who will most likely leave or be traded.

Lumumba
Dawes
Dunn
Garland
Trengove
Grimes
Terlich

There's a reason why they can't get a game with us

But why would you play around with a system that's just starting to work really well? Why bring in Hibberd and move one of our important defenders out when we could trade for pace in the middle and not bother with a 27 y/o who missed a year of football because he's a drug cheat and his last really good season was 2014.

How is that being smart?

Wins his own footy, can mark and can tackle. See no reason he couldn't play anywhere on the ground

I don't understand your logic
Every single club wants pace and class you can't just drop a second round pick on the table and get Issac Smith and we certainly aren't getting a kep position forward who can ruck for pick 30, and if we did they probably wouldn't get a game next year anyway we aren't playing Weid Hoges Watts and another ruck forward in the same team so whoever we do chase will be a bit part player

Name 1 player with class and speed we can get with a second round pick

That's ridiculous, which club would be dumb enough to throw away a 2nd rounder on any of those players?

I said shopped. I didn't say they'd go for it. There will be pick swaps and upgrades/down grades future picks etc. if you come out with a handful of 2-3 round picks you are in a good spot to trade with the academy clubs.

We will work with GWS and gold coast closely as we have a good trade relationship. I know for a fact that GWS is very excited about at least 3 of their acad picks.

Because maybe Hunt isn't best utilized defending 50% of the game when we could be using him in a more attacking sense
Lots of guys learn their craft in one spot and then move to another, makes them more rounded AFL players .

I can name one who isn't and that's Hibberd.

How do anyone us know who else is on the market? I didn't predict Frost, Kennedy, Bugg or Vince but all of them have contributed to the team and all of them were in that vicinity.

Why get a player whose last really good season was 2014 for a 2nd round pick?

We can shop all we want but it won't have any impact on their true value.

You state that if we have a handful of 2-3 picks then we can trade with an academy club.

That's great, but how exactly are we going to get those picks?

God no to Hibberd, we already have one drug cheat on our list.

But if you look at our defense it's very settled. The McDonalds, Frost, Jetta, Hunt, Harmes, Vince and we have further depth. Melksham will have to fit in somehow (which i doubt he will) but if we add Hibberd that means taking Hunts spot.

**** that.

We've already thrown a pick away on one of them, i hope we're not stupid enough to do it again
Hibberd will not take Hunts spot. Hunt has shown he is here to stay with his line breaking speed. That's not what Hibberd offers.

Our style of football that we've been working on all year is about having pace and getting drive out of our backline, Hunt has been a very important part of that structure. Goodwin loves him if our defense, he's not going to play on the wing.

Whose spot does he take? It's not either of the McDonald's brothers, it's not Frost and it's not Jetta. Hibberd can't go through the middle like Vince so that rules him out.

So that leaves Harmes.

But why did we get milkshake? Isn't milkshake going to take Harmes' spot?

So hibberd is really taking milkshakes spot.

At the very best Hibberd is going to be a depth player, **** that for a earliest pick in the draft

Hunt just started playing nobody has any idea what his best position is.
