IanW What's your take on Stewart? How's he looked in the NEAFL, can he play second ruck, any indication as to whether he wants to stay or chase more gametime elsewhere?

Also, apparently Port is open to trading Hamish Hartlett, according to the Advertiser.

Don't watch a lot of Port but I know he's only 26, inside/outside mid with a beautiful kick and a strong tackler. Used to be injury-prone but has played 15, 22, 22, 22 games in the past four years.

He is a machine when hes up and running but he doesnt get the footy often enough, would still trade a first for him though because he has the ability to play brownlow games .. just needs a new start I think

Stewert kicked 8.3 in his last NEAFL game, with 2 bags of 5 and 3 bags of 4 during the year

Agreed - looking at his averages for the past few years, he only gets it about 20 times a game - but it's often quality touches rather than just accumulating the footy.

If we're keen on him it could be a case of buying low, as he's coming off an inconsistent year and the Power may be keen to get him off their books.

Next year's first, with something small coming back our way? Or ANB and next year's second?

Cheers. Do you know much more about him - how he's played in the NEAFL etc? And how much would he cost?

He hasnt made it at GWS as a key forward - Lobb went ahead of him.

My guess is we'd be happy to let him go for a pick upgrade/future 2nd for him and a 4th kind of deal.

He's played OK at NEAFL, but the talent level with Brisbane and GC crippled by injury isnt there to guess accurately.

Yeah Id think Port would want a pick around about the 10 mark, possibly higher.. hes worth more than Prestia as an example
But his best is elite, he can bomb goals from 55 and he doesnt just kick the ball sideways. Id take him for sure

Hes much the same as Bernie when we took him, if we can get him playing consistently he could still be an AA

I've gone off him a bit since that tackle on Gus in the NAB.

It's probably lucky I'm not involved because it all gets a bit personal. I would probably ask Jesse who he would like in the team and give a million future 1sts for some spud that would play every game because I wouldn't want to upset Jesse.

I'd take him.. and he's a bit of a campaigner if we want to add yet another to the list.
Would make the port games interesting too - they haven't exactly been short of spite the last few years

The NEAFL competition is ******* shit
Yeah noone should judge on NEAFL form. Was up in canberra for work for a few days, and was talking to a bloke in the office who plays full back in the NEAFL. Was mid 30s, said he was lucky to make 1 training a week, went to the gym a few other days, and was picked every weekend. Said he had played on some big name players and gotten absolutely destroyed every time

No to Marchbank. I don't think he is enough of an upgrade on Frost/TMac/Omac to throw next years 1st at.

We should only use next years first if it involves picking up a quality senior player, like Hartlett.
Agree.
Haven't seen much of Port this year but from what I've heard Hartlett has had a bit of a stinker.
Has he been injured or played out of position?

So he's 3 years removed from 23?

Hartlett has a 5 year deal IIRC, ehhhh, thats probably enough to scare me off unless Port are willing to pay some salary for a few years.

Love him as a player at his best but he wasnt close to his best this year.

Reckon Hartlett would be a good get. 4 years left on his contract is no different to what we are offering Hibberd. Comes with experience and leadership with plenty of footy still ahead of him, outside ball usage is what we need and a bonus that Hartlett isn't soft. The way we got Bernie Vince to turn up his career I'd back our coaching staff to get the best out of Hartlett in his prime years.
