If the Lions want to punt Rockliff, should we consider him?

Could be a case of buying at a bargain-basement price, even though he's not exactly what we need. In saying that, he's a bloody good midfielder and dangerous up forward.

Of course we should. Don't know if it'd happen though. Brisbane would be wanting picks this year which we don't have, and our first next year is too unpredictable even if they were keen.

Pass, they won't be giving him away and will be expecting both more than we'd want to pay, and more than we actually have. He's not a particularly damaging player, would prefer to stick with the kids we've got.

Fair call, I'd certainly only consider him if the Lions were really desperate to offload him and we could get him at 'unders'...

There really isn't any glaringly obvious needs that we need to address, so I'm more than happy to bring Hibberd in an watch our current players develop ... which makes me feel slightly ill.

No to Rockliff. We need players with outside class. He can find the footy, but we have 5+ guys who can find enough of the ball now with contested possession. We need midfielders who run, carry and use the ball well. Plus there is a massive question mark over his personality. Sounds to me like he's quite polarizing. I'm not sure we need that at the club right now. Plus we'd likely have to give our future 1st round pick for him, and I'd prefer to keep it either to trade for an A grade player next year, or go to the draft with it.

Garland is almost the new Terlich. Two years of a contract with little likelihood of AFL football. He's essentially a very well paid VFL player now.

Hamling was a DFA and Biggs was a trade. But your point is a good one.

He played six mostly horrible games for the year. I don't see him getting back short of an injury epidemic.

I'm no expert but I reckon we are still in a position where we need a couple of overpaid players on our list to reach the minimum salary cap.. Terlich, Dawes, grimes(?) this year? Lumumblejumbles, garland next year? I don't mind if they're not best 22, means we can free up cash for the ones we want to keep without too much impact

Slightly annoying that we aren't linked to any of the departing Giants players. Most are high draft picks with a couple of years in the system under their belt and looking for opportunity so ready to make an immediate impact.
