His economic/anti-'the system' narrative certainly helped him get over the line. But his racism and misogyny, and the firm backing America's racists and misogynists gave him, shouldn't be downplayed in the least. There was nothing close to 60,000,000 desperately poor people voting for him.
there you go pushing class politics again!

What I'm on about is that there is a difference between being politically incorrect and insulting people. If you don't understand the difference then try, because they aren't the same so stop pretending they are.
Not what I said.
I took it to mean that you are up in arms more about PC than insults, I stated nowhere near the same.
PC is only an issue for those that have nothing else to complain about.

If you have had insults hurled at you for the colour of your skin, your ethnic background, the way you speak and look, the financial background of your family, physical disabilities of a family member then for me PC is a non event.

Jack Watts would have beaten Hilary and Trump in a landslide if big footy could vote
I'm just surprised that anyone bothered to rock-up & vote at all, faced with the choices....Jill Stein excluded, of course.....She's actually human.

The Democrats might hate Trump at the moment, but when the Republicans want to overturn or repeal same sex verdicts (because the Republicans will attack same sex marriage), it will be Trump that stands up for same sex supporters, and it will Trump that stands up for LBGTQ. He isnt as bad as the guy they seen beat Hillary. Trump had to fight dirty to win, that much he understood. That is the difference between a Trump and a Romney. Trump gets the job done. He will be a candidate for both parties.
I think Trump won't/doesn't give a shit about SSM, it's Pence that I'm worried about.

But neither understand that part of the appeal isn't just abandoning political correctness, but also abandoning the political establishment, something both are very much part of.
Yes its the nutty religious right thinking the US then Aus will all become born again, in all their ways. Of all people Abetz saying 'listen' to the people!!!! Just at his 3 Amigoes in Tassie at the last election. They were establishment know all, talking downers. Thats all Abetz & the other religipoliticiokcksukz are. Hateful holly rollers.

Same sex marriage is not an issue in this election, it is done. It has been legalized and even the most conservative states have to deal with it, it's not going anywhere.

Depending on how the Supreme Court falls, I think there's every chance it will become an issue. The conservative Christian wing of the Republicans will see this as a real chance to overturn the decision.

But is Trump genuinely racist?

He certainly tapped into the fears of both regular workers and racists by talking about illegal mexican migration and the wall. But he has also said that he wants immigration from Mexico as long as they go through the correct process and that he will be very considerate towards people who might be undocumented but arrived as children.
The only historical 'proof' (ie. bias confirmation) that is ever brought up is the lawsuit in NYC about minority tenants, which has very little substance to it, as it was one of a large number of lawsuits put forward for the purpose of creating agreements not to discriminate for any reason other than ability to pay.

Things like Trump pushing for his golf course to be non-segregated (while Bill Clinton was golfing at club that was segregated) get conveniently ignored. Basically, Trump wasn't a racist until he started campaigning, which point he became LITERALLY HITLER!!1

Not to mention the tenant case was mainly his father who it was directed at. Trump was just getting started in the industry when that happened

It will be a trade off (as well as overturning Roe v Wade) for infrastructure spending and big walls. The Supreme Court will end up being 7 to 2 Libs in his first term.

Interesting that Donald too was getting debate questions from friendly media. Yet Kelly doesn't report this?
Man, talk about the biggest con ever to be had on the American people.
Story as related here is truly scarifying. Ailes is 150 per cent loyal to Trump. The expectation has to be Trump will do whatever is required to finish Kelly given she is responsible for Ailes being sacked.

Turns the stomach. Myself, I developed what grew into a visceral fear when I was watching the Repub primaries. Later when he was stalking Hillary during the 2nd debate I thought Chris Wallace should have pulled him up on it. This is the reason why I didn't make any posts on the 2016 election until it was over.

This is a very dangerous man. For once and probably the only time I am at one with Chief.

I didnt realise how bad white people have had it, until I read this thread
Poor folks, hope they are OK

Thanks Bigfooty
So if you're white you can't have it bad?

Most don't but there are some that are genuinely struggling and there's some justification to their belief that others don't give a shit about them or their struggles

Some of those people it seems just helped vote trump in

Anyway the real question from this ejection isn't who voted for trump because the GOP vote was actually lower than prior years. The question is why 5 or so million people that voted democrat last time didn't bother to show up

Posters here are talking about the idiots voting trump when the real morons are the ones that stayed home and have sentenced the world to 4 years of the most powerful country being run by a buffoon
