Ahead of her direct opponents.
So she's going to lose to Bernie? The numbers just don't work for that to happen.

Looking like Trump will debate Bernie since Hillary won't. Gives the appearance that Sanders is the real candidate who has been screwed over by the democrats. All the media attention will be on Trump none for Hillary

There is no stopping this man
I just don't know what to make of this. It's a hail mary that Bernie is throwing, it should be entertaining at a minimum.

Subject: You were amateur

Hey Shillary,

I was running for president, hoping to get a proper economics lesson for you. Sadly, you didn't help me. So I'm agreeing to debate Trump, just so that I can get schooled on economics. If he teaches me well, he gets the endorsement.

Good luck with your email servers!

Thanking you,

Comrade Sanders

Sanders' entire campaign has been about having nothing to lose. Clinton and the establishment don't know how to deal with a guy who can't be bought or threatened to tone it down and fall into line.

Overall I can't imagine it being significant for Trump either way. It puts Clinton in a bind though. Does she now ask to be invited for the debate? If she does it's basically giving Trump and Sanders free swings at her with nothing to lose and it puts Sanders on a level playing field giving the appearance of a 3-horse race. If she doesn't ask for an invite Sanders will get a heap of extra attention and she looks like she's hiding away from the public. I expect that she'll sit it out and get her media friends to crucify Sanders for anything and everything that happens.

She'll beat Bernie but I am saying most of her polling when she was elected as senator and what not has had her at a huge lead before her opponent reels her in slightly.

I should demand a fee for campaign advice from Sanders:

If I were Bernie and she doesn't agree to a debate in the next few days I'd give Trump a call and organise a debate against him then tell Hillary that either she accepts the debate or he'll be debating Trump. Trumps ego won't let him say no and Hillary either agrees to a debate or gives Bernie massive air time on what would be a hugely watched debate.
A man's gotta gloat the one time he actually calls something correctly:p

I suppose a smart strategy for Trump would be to take it easy on Sanders, agree with him on a few points, in hopes of gaining some of his supporters for the election assuming Sanders doesn't get the nom. But it will look bad for Trump if he loses the debate.

BTW he wants 10-15 million donated to women's issues. An attempt to gain some Clinton supporters in that ploy too.

Could be election defining in either direction this debate (Trump could win or lose the election here).

If I'm Sanders I'd go after Trump's positions and show why he thinks he is the man best equipped to defeat him in the general. So it won't be an easy ride for Trump

Basically he wants to split the DNC and is taking a giant risk to do so.
I wouldn't call it a giant risk. It only works out poorly for him if he gets well and truly destroyed in the debate, and I doubt either side will be a) interested in bashing each other as much as bashing Clinton and b) surprised by the style of their opposition. They've both done a lot of debates already.

I would be stunned if Sanders attacked Clinton apart from not debating him before California. As I see it, Sanders attacks Trumps positions to show how he's more capable of landing the decisive blows on Trump and beating him in a general. Sanders is the only politician clean and progressive enough to test Trumps commitment to some of these US-worker-friendly economic policies he's advocated for but are now in the grey zone of things he walks back and forwards depending on who he's talking to. It will be interesting to see how Trump tries to shift his debating strategy from the primaries anyway.

Yeah I'm interested to see how Trump handles the debate. If he hits Bernie too hard and plays the man, then the danger is he'll reinforce his image as a bully and further alienate Bernie's supporters. On the other hand, everyone will be cheering on Bernie to land as many blows as possible, plus he has nothing to lose. Bernie's a skilled political operator and has deliberately held back from hitting Crooked Hillary too hard given, from my perspective, his goal is to push her to the left and then support her at the convention/general election. But if Trump fails to respond adequately to Bernie's attacks, it will damage his reputation as the tough guy who can handle ISIS, illegal immigration, terrorism and so on in the eyes of voters. Plus Trump hasn't really paid much attention to Bernie until now, and while Bernie has already made some harsh criticisms, Trump has let them all go through to the keeper so far (which, as we know, is certainly out of character).

That said, I think Trump will be able to easily navigate any testing by Sanders of his work-friendly economic policies. Trump is the master of a sound bite and, in any event, debates are poor venues for getting into detail about policy.

For Trump I agree. I don't see how after this debate more people go toward Clinton than before.

I'd expect Sanders and Trump to approach it similarly in that they'll agree with each other on a lot of the problems facing America but Trump going down the "I'm living in reality while you're in a dream world" type criticism while Sanders stressed his desire for inclusiveness rather than trying "to divide people up" as he's criticised Trump about before. I imagine Sanders will go really hard at Trump too. I'd also expect Trump to ruthlessly attack Clinton and try to get Sanders to go down that road too. I doubt Sanders will do that though.
