Was only able to get in a couple of glances on Twitter, about to watch the full thing because I think comedy on television is currently a little light.

Though not totally sure who exactly said a tweet is worth the presidency of the united states and/or the sanctity of the world, but a couple of choice things I saw definitely makes me think that is so...

Hillary missed a beat by not calling out Trump on his import tariff policy that will raise the cost of living (and likely not have any effect on jobs).

But apart from that and about 10-15 minutes at the start where Trump fired all his bullets at once, she shit all over him.

His transcripts are undecipherable, but that speaking style is deliberate and honed over a long career. He speaks in simple language because its persuasive. Being vague is also hypnotic as it invites the listener to fill-in-the-blanks with whatever policy details they believe to be best (without necessarily realising it). Call him a conman or talented negotiator, but its a large part of why he made it this far.

Well, that was exactly as expected. He just cannot do it. This debate she scaled him. The second debate will be the gutting. The third debate will be the voracious ravagement of the quarry - crispy fried, steamed, or sashimi. They know how and what buttons to push, she sucked up an hour and a half of his best, (actually only about 20 minutes of attack) and appeared to enjoy it. He's going to bang on about the 30 years of inaction, they'll be ready. Benghazi is covered, he has shown his hand so so easily. he talks about cards on the table all the time. He'll go all in on a 9 to 5, and lose it all. It was clearly always about substance, knowledge and temperament. And he gave the result that had to be. The online polls are meaningless. When his bar is so low he doesn't have to do anything. But if being angry and flustered gives him the online edge, it does not equate with who is going to be a better POTUS, and that data is decisive. I'd be surprised if he doesn't walk out before the end of the last debate. (Just back from Ankara - wow). LOL

Trump has always talked like a moronic simpleton, it's not deliberate, it's just him. I love how everytime Trump says something stupid or bombs, his fans come out and say it's all a genius ploy
You love to make sweeping, dismissive statements. I never said he was a genius, I said he has developed that speaking style over a long period of time because its effective for him. Many politicians adjust their speaking style to incorporate more plain language. One of the best books on writing, "On Writing Well" by William Zinsser, is required reading in law schools and emphasises the persuasiveness of simple verbs. You mentioned he bombed at the debate, where have I claimed that he didn't? I posted something much more nuanced on the previous page.

To say that Trump is a moronic simpleton, who presumably has just stumbled into his billions of dollars and a serious shot at the US presidency, is an ignorant view. You may hate the man and what he stands for, but he is no idiot.

And the prize goes to whoever it was earlier in this thread that said Trump supporters would crack the shits and attack the moderator for his "bias".
It's an indictment on the media that most people could easily predict beforehand that Trump would cop the raw end of the deal last night.

From The Daily Mail,

CNN awarded Hillary Clinton an overwhelming victory in the first presidential debate - but most snap polls show Trump emerged victorious.

Trump and Clinton tangled over the economy, her use of a private mail server and his unwillingness to release his income tax returns on Monday night.

They engaged in a vigorous back-and-forth on the debate stage at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, as polls showed them locked in a tight race.

However, after the debate's end, polls conducted by a number of media websites showed their readers felt the real estate mogul came out on top.

Trump acknowledged the result, tweeting: 'Wow, did great in the debate polls (except for @CNN - which I don't watch). Thank you!'

CNN's snap poll gave Clinton the win with 62 per cent to Trump's 27.

But the Drudge Report's poll showed Trump fared better with 81.5 per cent of the vote to Clinton's 18.5 while others, including Time, CBS New York and the Washington Times, also saw Trump win the vote.

Clinton edged out Trump in the Star Tribune's poll and one conducted by NBC News.

Here are the some of the results from snap polls:

He didn't even need to stumble into his wealth. He was literally born into it.

Its the thing that requires the absolute least amount of agency in a human being's life.

And that's the thing he bases his perceived authority on. And the weak lap it up.

I wish I have 14 million from my daddy to start businesses (14 mil back in the 70s, that's insane money), then ask daddy to part fund most my projects thereafter, then have them tank then bail myself out through dancing around bankruptcy laws and banks who can't afford him to fail

The most ignorant view is presuming everyone who is rich are competent and must be clever, history has shown again and again that it isn't the case at all

C'mon now, you can come out and admit you are really pro-Trump, just as I am fine with saying I hate his guts, everytime you post it's always to spin things in his favour. No need to be ashamed

Btw anyone who's known Trump or see how he behaves for at least the past ten years would know he has always talked like a buffoon, it isn't deliberate, it literally is what the man is about. Ask people who worked for him, same thing. Anyone who thinks it's a deliberate ploy for him to speak stupid has not been in the loop for too long
