Well I don't give Sandy much of a chance with the team named. St Kilda have done them no favours for the second year running with the finals team.
Sandy had their best game of the year today. What a time to turn it on! Can anyone shed some light on the angst at Sandy at the moment? ie: Player unrest, St Kilda alignment, Huddo resigning etc

I'm not too sure. I don't think a lot of Sandy people would be happy with what is pretty much a complete takeover by St Kilda and fair enough, although it seems like that was pretty much their best option.

As far as the players go, my guess is there had been some discontent with some of the teams named throughout the year (playing 3 rucks, Nathan Freeman playing but only really in first gear, a lot of Sandy listed players who have previously played seniors playing in the Dev League etc.) but I'm not too sure how that would be much different from what would happen at any other aligned club. Today though the team seemed a lot more balanced and it obviously paid off.

I really don't know what the go is with Hudson. From St Kilda's point of view, I can't imagine we'd be too impressed about losing him, but I don't know whether anything has happened behind the scenes. Maybe he considers himself an outside chance at a senior coaching job at Brisbane? No idea.

We used to have a resident Sandy fan on the Saints board who seemed quite knowledgeable but I haven't seen him in ages.

The coach leaving is for personal reasons. He is aints development coach as well as sandy coach.

Sandy has decided to that it was better to align properly with the saints as they would not survive alone.

From what was alluded in the press sandy would have gone down the tubes simikare to bendigo and now frankston.

This inludes no moritorium of player numbers. Now saint saints are only allowed 14. And also when they play at Moorabin they where saints colors.

The sandy players didn't like this and there has been a backlash by sandy players inluding Trent Dennis Lane who took umbrage.

So the semi finals look like this:

Williamstown v Sandringham Saturday
Footscray v Essendon Sunday

The 2 big bayside clubs have a pretty decent rivalry, including a number of grand final appearances against each other including 1985 and 1992. Williamstown has been the shining light of the standalone clubs this year whilst sandringham until last Sunday have had a poor 2 months. Momentum might just be the key so Sandy to get up.

It is also momentum that plays a key factor in Sunday's match between the next door neighbours. Essendon have had decent winning run as of late, whilst Footscray have had a tough time of it up against Casey and Collingwood. In front of what should be a huge crowd, Essendon to win as it did against Footscray 12 months ago in the corresponding match.

You'd think Casey'd get a gig at their home ground next week ala AFL style. I'll take North Port!

I think it'd be at North Port. Gotta barrack for Williamstown but at the same time watch Melbourne's reserves with interest

Collingwood v Footscray Saturday
Casey v Williamstown Sunday

The VFL, whilst delighted with the crowd yesterday, would be breathing a sigh of relief as the potential of a lockout this coming Saturday at Port Melbourne is avoided. Haven't seen North Port so full in years. Both Collingwood and Footscray have injury concerns, but, I think the Pies might just win.

The benefit of the week off helps Casey as Williamstown had to play in a bog heap on Saturday. Scorps win.

Port ground wasn't to bad on Saturday. Definitely wasn't a bog heap mate. Willy do play the Port ground well.

Why is the Willy game on Sumday considering they played on Saturday. Bit strange unless they wanted to have Casey play on the same day as there reserves GF which I assume is also on Sunday. If so that does make sense.

The Port ground is central and a decent venue but gee whiz they will need some extra food vans for Saturday's clash. And those toilets are pretty ordinary for a finals ground. Also do they allow access to the new rooms in the far pocket?

I'm oddly going to cheer Collingwood too. VFL Grand Finals are shit when alive AFL clubs are in it and not playing to win, and I want to go to it this year.

You know, you could always just go anyways right?

Can you see why I don't want to?
Yes, i don't think it is a good one. If you follow VFL why don't you go and see one of the traditional clubs
