2017/18 Drafts

Rules
1) National draft picks are due 24 hours after the previous pick or 9am Thursday January 4, whichever is later.
2) If you do not take your pick in time, you are skipped and your time is halved for all remaining picks in all drafts.
3) If your previous pick was skipped and you have not taken it before your next one comes up, you get 0 hours for that pick and if one or both of those picks are unpassable, they are autopicked.
4) Once you have been autopicked, you will continue to be autopicked (and your time continues to be halved) until you post to say you will take your next pick.
If you have two successive picks, this is considered one pick for the purposes of these rules.
5) National draft autopicks are taken from the top of the player list in this post. At the end of the draft, any skipped passable picks will be passed.
6) For players with salaries listed and no length specified, these are 1 year salaries, and you must have the cap space to pay for them. If you want them for longer than 1 year, you must post that at the time of taking the pick, and will pay the minimum for that length (140/175/210/245/280) if that is greater than the listed salary. The only exception is if you redraft your own contracted delisted player - in this case the player will return to his existing contract.
7) If you choose to pass, that pick will be replaced with a pre-season draft pick.
9) For every $75k of salary cap space remaining after those PSD picks have been allocated, you will get a rookie draft pick (up to the maximum 8 players).
10) Rookie draft picks are due 24 hours after the previous pick. There are no autopicks in the rookie draft and any unused picks will be passed at the conclusion of the draft.
11) You have until the first bounce in the AFL preseason to delist any players in order to get an extra pre-season pick.
12) For every $75k of salary cap space remaining at that time, you will get a pre-season rookie draft pick (up to the maximum 8 players).
13) Pre-season draft picks are due 24 hours after the previous pick or 6pm Sunday March 4*, whichever is later. All players with salaries listed are dropped back to minimum salaries, and autopicks are from oldest to youngest of these players if you can afford the extra $44k, or from the top of the list if you can't. The only exception is if you redraft your own contracted delisted player - in this case the player will return to his existing contract. Passes are not allowed in the PSD. You may use your pick to permanently promote one of your rookies on a draftee/minimum contract, but will not receive any additional pre-season rookie draft picks even if that frees up enough space for one.
14) At the conclusion of the PSD, any pre-season rookie draft picks that no longer fit within a team's cap will be autopassed.
15) Pre-season rookie draft picks are due 24 hours after the previous pick or 48 hours after the last PSD pick, whichever is later. There are no autopicks.

Please familiarise yourself with the above post including the rules and pick out any mistakes you see.

Officially the draft opens up tomorrow but Danoz can get things started whenever he wants. No time limits until 9am January 4.

Can I ask why you can delay until Jan 4? What is the thinking? I know in previous years it was because the AFL rookie draft was a month after the national draft but that is no longer the case.
Probably not an issue because we are all fairly keen.
I understand Christmas and New Years holidays in the mix as well but previously you gave a list to Russian if you couldn’t pick.
Food for thought that’s all

While the time limits don't start until Jan 4, we're encouraginf everyone to take the picks when they're up as we're a month behind where we were this time last year.

I've always felt like the drafts is where we can catch up and we'll probably look at reducing the time limits once we get past the first round, especially if we don't get off to a quick start here.

In other games I've played in the entire draft can be wrapped up in a few days. That's not likely to happen here, but if we can have the ND completed in a month that'll be a great result for us.

To keep the draft moving, it'd be great if people who think they're not going to be able to take a pick within 24 hours at this stage to let us know, and if possible, send us a preference list.
