Thank you very much!

They aren't permanent upgrades I don't think?
plus it's all a moot point as the rookie upgrade will cease to exist next season
Good work maintaining these lists, TLL. Can you point me to a source that explains list rules for 2018? Have the AFL published an updated policy document?
I'm trying to work out the list vacancies for Adelaide: 35 players on the main list now after the 6 outs and 2 ins from a list of 39. (Not counting Sam Shaw - he has come off the 2017 Rookie list, and he was only there for administrative purposes after he retired from football in 2016 following concussion issues).
Rookies at the start of the year:Beech, Greenwood and Keath are all currently listed on Adelaide's main list, with only Hunter and Jarman on the rookie list. (The lists have been updated, the most recently traded player, Cameron has gone from it). I don't know whether the fact that these three rookies are on the main list reflects their current 2017 upgraded status, or whether it reflects a decision to upgrade them to the main list at the draft. Greenwood and Keath certainly will be on our main list 2018, not so sure of Jono Beech.
But I am having difficulty finding definitive (backed up with solid sources) information about the size and compositions of lists in 2018.
Is your statement "...rookie upgrade will cease to exist next season." an informed guess, or is it based on some published AFL policy/rules statement?

I'm on my mobile now ao I can't link anything, so hopefully someone else can The_Wookie might know.

As far as ceasing to exist I'm 90% sure I read that the rookie list, or at least part of it/senior rookies wouldn't be there and would all fall under one main senior list

Among some rookie contract news, West Coast announced that Francis Watson had been upgraded from a Category B rookie to a Cat A rookie, and so would be available for selection from round 1 under the new rules.

I take it from that news that the rookie lists will carry on, but normal (I.e not Cat B) rookies will be eligible for selection the same as senior players. So why they're retaining a distinction between the two lists I have no idea.

He technically was already on your list so wouldnt be an "addition" for the purposes of this thread.

List vacancies at the Eagles:

We currently have 36 senior listed players (39 less the four retirees Mitchell, Priddis, Butler and Giles, plus Ah chee). The club has said it will take five draftees so there will be at least one delisting - Josh Hill is a strong favourite, Wellingham and Lamb are also both currently uncontracted and in limbo.

We have two Category A rookies confirmed for next year: McInnes and Watson, as well as one Cat B (Bayok). Two other rookies Gorter and Snadden are unknown. Tunbridge has been delisted.

I know, I was just adding my 2c about the new rookie list rules.

Of course it might've been clearer if I'd quoted one of the other posts I was responding to
