Not crash hot on their pitching but the Brewers will certainly make some noise. The Cubs will have a fight to defend their division with the Cards as well.
If they somehow sign Darvish then watch out

Sounds like it’s 6-years/$126M guaranteed, could reach $150M with incentives. No trade protection and opt outs (don’t know the details of after which year/s that is).

Love the look of the rotation now. Darvish is an upgrade over Arrieta and Chatwood is an upgrade over Lackey.

Best thing about that deal for the Cubs is the lack of a no-trade clause (unlike say Heyward).
If Lester can rebound that rotation is as good as any in the league.

Just hope the Nats don't overreact and go after Arrieta

Why not go all in in Harpers last season there?

Darvish has an opt-out after Year 2 but if he remains in Chicago for the full 6-years, he will only get to the full $150M if he wins multiple Cy Young awards.

If he doesn’t win a Cy Young in the first two years, does he think he can win 2 or more in the last 4 years of the contract? So he’d have a decision to make after Year 2. Does he think he can get a 4/$84M contract elsewhere which is what the Cubs would be guaranteed to owe him.

2 days until pitchers and catchers report and majority of FAs are still unsigned. How many will still be out of work by opening day?

Plays great defense and an all round hitter, Kauffman Stadium is a pitchers park also so not much difference there.

No superstars are going to sign with the Pads.

5 yrs, 110m. Puts them in tax trouble but needed it to keep up with the yanks

Well Ohtani the Japanese Babe Ruth is having a pretty rough start to spring training. In four outings he’s conceded 15 earned runs and 18 hits in 8 1/3 innings with an ERA of 16+ and 2 for 20 with the bat.

That’s even included games against predominantly minor leaguers.

Today against his first big league line up full of starters against Rockies he gave up 7 runs, 7 hits which included 2 HRs in just 1 1/3 innings.

Plenty of time no doubt but think a bit of a shock to the Angels.

maybe he needs to concentrate on just pitching until he is established in the majors, bit different to the Japanese league
