That's what he did for Glenelg. Left his man and took heaps of marks. Just read the game better than his opponent.

Just a smart player. Could impact in many areas. Would think he'd be effective on a wing too. He's excellent at what he does but a few teams have specifically targeted him and tagged him. So you'd think another way into the game for him would be good.
I'll back in your judgement on the HB discussion and I tend to agree with you I'm not sue that we best use Lynch's flexibility

Yes he is damaging in his role across HF however I wouldn't mind seeing his gut running in the midfield approaching time on of each qtr, he could be very damaging in this period when opposition mids are tiring, especially against those teams that don't bat to deep in their midfield

You look at the glass as half empty. Instead of looking at it as half full.

Your negativity is so bad, you won’t allow yourself to even acknowledge how good Richmond were. Only option according to you was us losing.
We lost a Grand Final FFS, there is nothing to be positive about. I never said Richmond didn’t play well, of course they did but we were bloody awful. The club has said the same, perhaps step down into reality and accept what it was.

Agree. Jenkins must be such a momentum killer. you work so hard to get the ball down, trap and hold in the 50 only to see the great matador wave the opposition through shouting Ole as they rebound the ball out through his area
Ive literally seen that happen at least 5 times over his career.
Watch the replays you can see him mouth the word.

Yes we did. It’s not the end of the workd.

Maybe you should get a grip on reality.

I honestly don't think it was so much our game plan that failed I think there were just too many of our players that didn't bring their A game and the right mindset on the day.
Nup. Pyke was outcoached pure and simple.

Those back flankers + midfielders running in waves of 4-5 through the centre was something not seen all season. Their defensive positioning was lifted straight out of the Enright era Cats playbook. The combination of the two blew the minds of our coaching box who had no answer whatsoever.

All that, plus we were a rabble from before the first bounce.

You spend your days on a forum discussing the Crows, they are obviously pretty important to you right? They form a large part of your reality? That’s why we are here. Don’t give me that crap that losing so badly was a little thing, just because you live in Mary Poppins land.

No I have not. I have never presented to be some footy god, unlike a few others who post and thing the sheep station will be in the post after winning an Internet arguement.

I love footy. I love the crows. I just want to discuss the game but I guess you have to be a boy to join your elusive boys club.
Harden up. You've posted your opinion, fair enough. Bicks posted his opinion.

It's an internet forum. You're entitled to your views and so is Bicks.

If you don't agree that's fine. Don't be so sensitive.

The ongoing JJ vitrol is unbelievable for someone who makes an important contribution to our side.

You would think he is performing like Ty Vickery...
Define “important”.

He delivers in pretty much one stat alone, and even then that’s not down to his own hard work or skill.

It's ridiculous to suggest he only delivers 1 stat.

Just ridiculous after all this time you think his only contribution is to kick goals.

The beauty of our forward line has been having many dangerous options who gel as a team to usually kick big winning scores.

To suggest anyone can just come in a replace a JJ or a Lynch as suggested yesterday is silly talk.

That was really sapping. We went in with the same gameplan to a tee that we'd shown off all year. Not a single change up. Meanwhile Richmond went in with a plan specifically tailored to neuter us.

If there is a God we will get another chance and hopefully not go in with the exact same recipe everyone has been reading for 7 months.

Blight learned the hard way from his time at Geelong you have to be unpredictable in the big dance
Sometimes a player taken out his comfort zone can produce an unexpected game when challenged. Like Blight did with Shane Ellen.
It’s possible that Pyke doesn’t yet have the confidence or experience to throw caution to the wind and pull the odd radical move. Like if you do unexpected moves ala Blight and it fails, it could put a bigger ? over you than keeping to the system. Once you’ve got many years as a senior coach, then doing the weird moves could be more acceptable if they don’t come off.

Right up your alley Vader :)

That was a pretty soft fan interaction piece. He answered all the questions, but didn't really rule anything out.

About the only thing he answered definitively was Tex being available for R1, but that is just keeping with what the club had stated previously. We've seen multiple instances last year where "1 week" injuries kept players out of the team for 3-4 weeks.

I don’t understand his reasoning. Tex is not as good as Sloane because................

Tex is too boisterous off the ball.
Sloane puts his head over the ball and leads by example.

However he also notes that Tex is by far the most popular choice within the club....

He forgot to mention Tex being named best AFL captain 2 years in a row. As judged by his peers.

Im sure the AFC will consider Kane’s Tweet when selecting our next club captain:drunk::straining:;)
Kane has been taken under the wing by media manipulator Hutchie. I'm sure Hutchie has been mentoring Kornes in how "good" media commentators agitate from the sidelines to stir up shit. That's how you generate ratings and try and make yourself stand out from all the other media commentators.

The best thing to do is basically ignore what Kornes says.

Whilst I agree in the most part... McCullogh isn’t a front rower who just gets handed the ball and tries to smash through hit ups... he’s a smaller ball carrier who does a lot of ducking, sidestepping and weaving in between the oncoming opposition..

It would be interesting to see the difference in rehab techniques used by the clubs across both leagues and, given that some AFL clubs have held training sessions/camps with NRL clubs in the past, you’d have to think they’d share injury rehab and recovery techniques...
While he may be doing that, it's still much less of a 360 degree game compared to AFL. You generally only have to worry about getting tackled from in front, rather than from the side or behind. Plus getting blindsided by a tackler doesn't happen very often in the NRL.

NRL players tend to have bigger leg muscles too (it's more a power game, compared to AFL, which is an endurance game). That would help provide more stability for the knee.

So I'm sure that all contributes to less strain being put on the knee overall, allowing them to return to playing earlier.

I expect when it comes to info on injuries you’re always going to state the best case scenario. Why wouldn’t you if it’s still a possibility. I don’t think being negative will help. So yeah Tex is progressing as expected but that doesn’t mean his foot won’t flare up again and change things. All injuries would be an unknown to some extent

If Tex is out of the moon boot then that is wonderful news!
And Pyke would be an unprofessional coach if he says "yeah player X is definitely in for round 1, he's killing it with all the preseason running and drills!" Then player X goes on to have 2 stinkers in JLT games...

It was also structures. Too big up forward, which meant they just waltzed out of defence.

Lynch to act as a road block in defence and Brown to shut down Houli could have been enough to stop their momentum.
The key difference for me in the GF was that our forwards got outmarked by their defenders. Richmond's forwards, on the other hand, were able to bring the ball to ground, even when outnumbered.

This allowed their small forwards to put pressure on and lock the ball in. Our small forwards couldn't do that as the Richmond defenders could go back behind the mark and take their kick, giving their midfield time to set up.

Oh, I agree that's good news about Tex, but it wasn't a massive surprise. Unless it's something like an snapped Achilles, a week or so in the moon boot is normally as long as they are worn for. It's just there to isolate those muscles and stop them from being put as much stress as possible.

Coaches almost never pot their players in the media, and certainly not in pieces like this where Pyke would have been given the questions well in advance, so could carefully craft his response. The exception to this would be if it was a particular player that the coach knew would respond well to being publically criticised.

For example, despite what Pyke said about him "looking good", I fully expect CEY to play 0 senior games this year and be delisted at the end of the year.
