Pat Wilson should be in that list
Posters expectations of players that have never played in the big league and coming in and replacing players who have acheived AA status as they have enormous ability are delusional, Lever and Smiths replacement are going to have to have a bit of experience about them to come in and be even close to where those two have left off

Smith hasn't missed many games over the last few years but when he has we've lost every one
Huh?

We won the 1st game without him - the preliminary final last year?

We effectively won the qualifying final too without him for most of the game.

Smith missing the grand final didn't help, but wouldn't have been the difference.

Why do you persist in making incorrect statements when you don't bother even checking the facts...

Oh yeah...

That final means that we're 1-4 without him over the last three seasons. Not enough games to draw a strong conclusion (hopefully).

Without checking though it feels like when he plays badly we often are poor.
When most of our good players don't play well we tend to lose.

Not just Smith!

Yeah I stuffed that up

I remember checking when he did his ACL. Went back and saw he'd missed bugger all games but the ones he had missed we'd lost all of them. At the original time of writing it was true... now it's not.

Not just Smith!
Which other ones?

There are good players who tend to play well all the time - wins and losses. Eg Matt Crouch. Then there are those whose seem to be a catalyst for our wins.

I remember the correlation between Dangerfield >25 disposals and Dangerfield <21 disposals and us winning or losing was extremely strong. Even though we had lots of other good players around.

Walker, Lynch & Sloane are our far biggest culprits.

Thanks to Scorpus best & fairest analysis of player votes in wins v losses.

Edit - Smith is average in this respect.

Yea it one of our main weakness, too many players when they are having a bad day cannot find a way to contribute.
At this time we need more Matt Crouch, Jacobs and Kelly who seem to find a way to contribute when they're playing bad.
Even the much malign Douglas seems to up his tackle count when he playing shit.
But its not enough
Gibbs and maybe Gibson will make a difference in that area, with Brad improving his bad games.

This year that the one area I want to see an improvement.

Newcastle, Colorado Rockies.
Agrre, but he is still only 19 and Done doesn't like (based on evidence) giving teenagers an extended run at it (Lever the exception)
Milera?

We tend to take our time with rookies, but those we rate really highly get extended runs early under Pyke.

Wouldn’t that position be up for grabs with Cheney Kelly Doedee Gibson keath

Cheney - yep
Kelly - already in the 22
Gibson - hard runner, his gut running won't be wasted in a purely back half role. He's putting pressure on players who work further forward.
Keath - maybe, but I doubt we'll go that tall, even though he's quick, my money is on Lever being replaced by a more nimble player. Like Cheney or Doedee.

I guess time will tell

But pretty sure Gibson could play back pocket against a team like the tigers

I doubt a player who has never played in the AFL has a mortgage on a position unless your delusional

Why would you waste our fittest player's greatest asset by playing them in a back pocket. Gibson is a running machine, you know, all the reasons that we need Mackay. Running patterns and so forth. Gibson is as likely to play out of a back pocket for the Crows as you are.

And yet you can't shut up about Graham. 5 gamer that took Sloane to the cleaners. You won't shut up about it and yet here you are. You really can be the simplest of creatures.

I don’t disagree with what you’ve said, but why can’t we use Kelly, along with Talia and Hartigan as our main lockdown defenders. Kelly can take the small forward as he has done in the past.

Let Doedee play loose, and allow Brown and Laird to attack more, with the help of Seedsman or Milera.

Seedsman was actually very good for Pied at HBF when fit. Few short memories around here. If he had a full PS I’m backing Seedsman for a pretty good year.
Seems pretty obvious Seedsman for Smith like for like. He has always looked to be a quality player with an obvious weapon. Just needs to get through pre season.
