I really feel for big Kreuz he deserved the recognition of AA. After everything he has been through and the year he has had, basically beaten every ruck opponent he has come up against.

It's a media driven award these days especially with blokes like Ling on the panel as soon as Ryder did that tap to Grey in the STK game it was pretty much a certainty he was gonna be AA ruck. A lot of good stories in the team/drug cheats.

Should the AA be changed to a NBA like vote system? - media votes per position - most votes gets in the team ... it will dilate any bias or flawed opinions from so called 'experts'
Could work... except that very few, if any, Carlton players would ever make the side again!

Players should vote.

MVP has no public profile, but it's held highly as the Brownlow amongst players, as the players are the ones nominating.

Well clearly the AFL don't consider being convicted of taking illegal sports enhancing drugs an impediment to selection for one of their highest honours.

Apparently Hibberd, Hurley, Ryder all "sat out of football" last year.

The AFL have been at great pains to continue their denial of the premeditated cheating undertaken by the Doping 34.

They reluctantly suspended the cheats after an international body left them with no choice but to do so. The fact that 3 of the Dopers were able to produce AA seasons after 12 months out of the game (& the Dopers FC made the finals) serves to demonstrate that a 12 month suspension was nowhere near sufficient a punishment. 2 years would have sent a stronger message & served as a stronger punishment.

Anyway, fantastic to see Doc in the side. He is a footballer's footballer & typifies the professionalism required to be an elite AFL player (yes, he can now be considered elite, regardless of any stats which may suggest otherwise). On the back of this, I would like to see Murphy hand the baton to Doc as skipper of our great club. He is ready.

Kreuze was unlucky not to be named on the interchange bench, but regardless, he had a fantastic season & delivered on the promise he has demonstrated for so long. Expect to see him go one better in 2018.

Shouldn't be any surprise that Kreuzer didn't get selected. Ryder has the fairy tale story going for him as well as the fact that he doesn't play for Carlton. The fact that Kreuzer was a better ruckman all season means nothing.

In reality AA is a virtual world of navel gazing. It doesn't play. Finals footy and state footy are where reputations are made.

Docherty and Kreuzer playing for Carlton in the finals and state games the Big V carries more weight as far as I'm concerned.

Docherty and Kreuzer don't need the vaildation of a ****ing blazer to prove their bona fides as champs of the Carlton Footy Club.

The very fact that you a Carlton person are willing to say "Anyway, fantastic to see Docherty.........."

to in effect move on from this issue doesn't bode well for how the rest of the "AFL family" feel about the issue.

I for one will never stop raising or mentioning the issue no matter how tired anyone else is hearing it.
