Collingwood, Essendon and Richmond will all finish very close to one another. At a rough estimate...

Richmond:
  • Geelong (33k)
  • Fremantle (35k)
  • St Kilda (60k)
Total: 1.17 million

Essendon:
  • Adelaide (40k)
  • Gold Coast (16k)
  • Fremantle (35k)
Total: 1.13 million.

Collingwood:
  • Port Adelaide (45k)
  • Geelong (50k)
  • Melbourne (50k)
Total: 1.12 million.
I still think the Pies, just ahead if Richmobd then Essendon. Around 10,000 separating them. A few of my thoughts:
Collingwood - the Powers effort today won't help their efforts to get 45,000 next week. I think they will need around 60,000 and plenty of Dees fans craving a top 8 finish to do this

Overall great crowds and in a modern competition with expansion clubs, to get 3 clubs over 1 Million is a good effort.

Special mentions to Melbourne, Hawthorn and Carlton who for various reasons I think are also having a strong year in attendances.
I think Tassieboy has got the order right but unfortunately I can't see Collingwood getting to the million. The Port game is another Sunday twilight and after today's effort it shouldn't be more than 40k, and that's in good weather.

Similarly those last two games in Melbourne will struggle to get past mid 40s I feel, leaving us just short of the million.

Richmond should still get top spot especially with the bonuses of having Freo's last game at Subi and probably Riewoldt's last game as well. The lucky thing for them is that either St Kilda will still be in contention and it will be a big game on that basis, or they'll be gone but the fans will know it will be Riewoldt's last game. They can't lose either way.

All good points. For all three clubs so much depends on whether they can keep winning (1) and a bit of luck (eg: Richmond may need the Reiwoldt factor). Weather could play an important part.

Looks like the worst Showdown crowd at the Adelaide Oval by nearly 5k.
Yeah did you have a look at the weather?Good day to stay indoors 45K is a very good crowd considering the very poor weather conditions
I reckon the dire weather forecast for Melbourne also cost the Tigers v Hawks a few thousand.

Yes, I was watching the game. It's still something of note about the crowd, however legitimate the reason.

When the fixture came out late last year before the start of this season i thought, this is a sh!thouse draw crowd-wise/attendance wise, and in a way fair enough considering how sheizen we were last year; then compounding it further we get fixtured to play Geelong at Skilled Statdium, which seriously should never happen, especially for a club as big as Richmond, that is an absolute disgrace and shows how naive the AFL heiracy truly are. We only play Carlton twice out of the big 4, who we know are rebuilding & aren't having any success. It is not an equal draw attendance-wise to get a true indication of where supporter superiority lies. Whether we end up 1st, 2nd, 3rd in total attendance for the year doesn't really matter; if the AFL ever releases a draw where all teams play each other twice or once and fair, i have no doubt in my mind that we (the Tigers) will be in the top 3, if not 1st, all things being equal. Go you Effin Tigers!!!

We got home Anzac eve, dreamtime, Collingwood and Hawks games..
we also got a return against the blues in a patch of form.
Home games this year have over and above compensated any bad fixture.
Home attendance will coke back down to reality next year when all those blockbusters are away, that said it's our turn to open the season.

Been a bit disappointed with Adelaide's crowds this year considering our ladder position. That said 3 games in the wet and a 37 degree scorcher at the start of the season doesn't help at all. Looking now we had a poor draw crowd wise, Western Sydney, St.Kilda, Fremantle, Bulldogs, the last 2 teams in the wet haven't helped. Hopefully get a massive 50k plus against Sydney in round 22 to get close to last years attendance figure.

Yeah Essendon and Richmond's fixtures are almost identical this year.

Richmond double ups:
Brisbane, Fremantle, Carlton, GWS and St Kilda

Essendon double ups:
Brisbane, Fremantle, Carlton, Adelaide and Collingwood

Essendon interstate games
GWS, GC, Freo, Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney

Richmond interstate games
GWS, GC, Freo, Brisbane, Adelaide, Port

Essendon MCG games against vic sides:
Carlton X2, Collingwood X2 (Public holiday), Richmond, Geelong and Hawthorn

Richmond MCG games against vic sides:
Carlton X2 Collingwood, Melbourne (Public holiday), Essendon, Hawthorn and St Kilda (which should get about the same or more than our game against Geelong)

Essendon Etihad games against Vic sides:
Melbourne, North Melbourne, Bulldogs and St Kilda

Richmond Etihad games against Vic sides:
North Melbourne, Bulldogs and St Kilda

The Geelong game for Richmond at KP still gets about 33K, just like our Melbourne game got about 44K even though the game being played at Etihad restricted it.

YOU roll this out and state it as evidence that the Essendon and Richmond fixtures are almost identical?

Did you even read what you wrote?

Richmond double ups are GWS and St Kilda and you think that is the same as Collingwood and Adelaide ? Really ?

I will not bother with the rest but the Geelong game in Geelong also destroys your theory.

Please think before you post

So the difference is Richmond's home game against GWS at the MCG and Essendon's home game against Adelaide at Etihad? Since both of us play Adelaide and GWS away. GWS home game gets 30-35K. Adelaide home game at Etihad gets 40-45K.

Your game against Collingwood earlier in the year got 58K, which the round 23 St Kilda game will likely beat. If you played a return match against Collingwood, it'll likely get less than the St Kilda Riewoldt farewell game on round 23 or at the very least on par considering that Collingwood are out of finals contention.

You play Geelong in Geelong (which will get 33K), but you also played Sydney at the MCG, which is the highest drawing interstate side. We played Melbourne at Etihad when you guys played them before a public holiday at the MCG. If anything, we're more restricted as an Etihad tenant compared to Richmond.

Of course you won't bother with the rest because the rest is the same

What would you expect from Friday night? We haven't played GWS after being decent yet and on a prime time slot. 24k might be fair. 30k vs Brisbane and 29k vs Eagles had some support of thier own team

Saints got under 22k for their Friday night match vs GWS so it could be similar, although I do think it should be a little bigger.

I reckon 25K Friday night will probably be close to bang on. Our most recent home game against an interstate team was West Coast which drew 29k and before that Brisbane which was just under 32k. Probably about 25,000 Bulldog fans at both of those games. Maybe a little more for the Brisbane game as it was Murphy's 300th.

Should be nothing less than 30k, If the bulldogs have as many members as they say they do they'll get that number.

Why wouldn't we have as many members as we say we do?

GWS average less than 20,000 at Docklands. Anything over 25,008 would be their 3rd highest crowd there. 25,000 is a reasonable and acceptable crowd for a team with zero travelling support.
