Why wouldn't we have as many members as we say we do?

GWS average less than 20,000 at Docklands. Anything over 25,008 would be their 3rd highest crowd there. 25,000 is a reasonable and acceptable crowd for a team with zero travelling support.
Anything less than 30k is pathetic, especially on a friday night and considering the circumstances around the game were each team is positioned.

Of course, blanket statements with no analysis of previous crowds and the size of the teams involved is the real way to go about posting in this thread and giving your opinion on crowds.

I'll re-state - the average for GWS in their history at Docklands is less than 20,000. Getting a crowd 25% bigger than the historical average is a logical and rational analysis given the bubbling rivalry and prime-time slot.

Given GWS have spent most of that time completely uncompetitive it's hardly a fair baseline to set.

GWS have had crowds of 23,194 against Carlton and 21,160 against St Kilda this year (with the Saints game also Friday night) to go with crowds of 22,295 against North in R23 last year when both teams were playing finals, 14,463 against Essendon last year and 21,052 all in the period of time that GWS were "competitive" - in this context, 25,000 is a reasonable expectation, and to claim 30,000 when low 20's is typical for GWS at Docklands is just ridiculous.

25k is probably a reasonable expectation, but that's not because of GWS crowd history, it's because of the Dogs crowd history. Given the game is played in Melbourne I would have thought that's a much more relevant consideration.

That comment about 'real members' made me laugh a bit given what happened in Sydney tonight.....South Sydney with a membership of over 30k hosted the Bulldogs - a local team with over 20k members as well - at ANZ stadium. The crowd was 8k. Eight thousand.
The membership police should probably start in Sydney if they are going to investigate dodgy figures.

You're an absolute peanut.

When Hawthorn/Collingwood/Richmond don't get 50,000-60,000 against GWS does that mean they don't have as many members as they say they do?

Sounds like tickets for Saturday night being snapped up quickly, reckon it could get close to a sell out
As it bloody should with what's on the line!
What bombers supporter wouldn't want to be there with what's on the line. 50000 turned up to AO and created a hostile environment, bombers would want a sell out and hostile crowd to say welcome to our home

It will be essentially a sellout so expect around 42,000.

I reckon this would probably draw 55K at the G. It's got enough driving it to get all the Essendon MCC and a sizeable neutral following behind it. Has a similar ring to it as a game Vs Eagles in 1999 which drew 55K.
