Don't underestimate the margin for error when you're talking about literally 3 or 4 ratings boxes.

36,000 for North Melbourne last night was decent, I thought. If it was against Collingwood or Essendon, 40-45k would've been a reasonable prediction. But it's not fair to expect Richmond to bring the same amount of away support as those clubs.
Lollll pies like Richmond hate that ground
We outnumbered ur team u know the home team....
Their were plenty of empty seats on first and 2md level of north reserve seating. I'd say if more of ur fans turned up it would've hit 40K

Ur dynamic pricing turned people away and to a lesser extent the freezing cold 6-7 degrees!

$87 for premium level 2
And $60+ for level 1

Well done north for inflating ur prices to unrealistic levels, pricing families out.

AFL FANS ASSOCIATION:

Dynamic pricing in action...
North Melbourne has increased some reserved seat prices by $12 for tonight's game against Richmond at Etihad.

None of that discredits what I said, AstuteTiger. The spellbinding discovery that more fans turning up equates to a higher attendance figure is appreciated, but most of your vague and/or hard-to-prove statements don't relate to my post.

Was it just me or did it seem Collingwood had a really strong turnout at Domain Stadium... like more than normal?
Seemed about normal to me, there was probably about 2000 - 2500 Collingwood fans there. The game wasn't sold out as of yesterday, and there's only about 3000 - 3500 tickets available to any given match.

Still more than just about every other club though.

Not terrific but still an ok turnout. As a comparison did beat the 2 sydney nrl games today, and the one last night as well.
UPDATE: The spotless game on Saturday actually ended up beating all 5 Sydney nrl games in terms of attendence this weekend as it turns out.

Obviously you are clearly fishing in the hope that Richmond fans take the bait and I won't.

However it was not a good crowd. North's season was not yet dead. Richmond's very much alive. North have hosted Richmond at the venue before significantly higher crowds and this 36K was disappointing. As recently as 2013 a 12th placed North hosted a 6th placed Richmond and drew 46K. this weekends crowd given the clubs were in almost identical ladder positions to 2013 was several thousand off any sensible predictions. It was a poor turnout. We can discuss the reasons but it was undeniably a poor turnout.

Im with you, it was a poor turnout considering Richmond is on fire Maybe the Tiger fans do hate the place that much or was it the overpriced tickets?
Should have had 40,000 + still all the other codes would most likely give their right arm for a crowd of 36,000 seeing most are only getting 10 - 12,000 ATM
Maybe attending sport is not as important to the general public anymore and the crowds now are the new normal for all codes.

I think there is a long term trend downwards across all football codes, especially as a proportion of population, which makes this season's AFL attendances look even better.

Even assuming a long term softening in attendance the turnout was several thousand off expectations.

Ticket prices put me off going. $60 odd for Level 1 behind goals. Nah. North tried to cash in big time on the Tiger train and it failed.
