Fogarty would we our third tallest defender, our tallest midfielder and our second tallest forward.

If his mobility is up to it he could be second most versatile weapon on the field after Fyfe.
Yep, you could compare him a little bit like Darling who at 17 was touted a top 3 pick. Will history
repeat itself?

I totally agree that we are gradually loosing a bit of power in our midfield, and if LDU is not taken at 1 then the solution has fallen right into our laps. With size and pace he is also exactly the kind of player who can create havoc forward and in combination with Fyfe makes for a nightmare for opposition.

Very happy with the candidates available to us at either of our picks and find it fairly remarkable how closely the top 6 seem to be ranked despite their differences.

I have dreams of us picking somebody at 42 who goes on to be a jet KPF...but then I remember that sort of thing happens rather infrequently.

Reckon there will be a couple of good KPDs available at 42. Clavarino, Taylor, that SA guy who's name I can't remember.

For the record I am hoping for Krueger.
I agree with most of that, i'd prefer a true KPF in Dixon first, Taylor (whom I think is a jet) second, Clavarino I rate too.

Not a big fan of Krueger, admittedly I have only seen him a few times, but he projects as more of a Marco Paperone type rather than a true key forward. Happy to be persuaded otherwise. Anyone over 192cm that we recruit in this draft is a bonus IMO.

LDU can make a proper instant impact on ANY teams midfield not just being put in the mids to gain experience, but actually in there because he is a machine. He will win the rising star for which ever team he goes to. Big strong, contested ball winner with good skills (i didn't say elite just good). He will make a material difference to our team which i personally think is slowly losing midfield POWER. Rayner who can play for bursts through the midfield, wont be a ball winner with his fitness and in his first year we can't expect him to be a massive goal kicker. .
You can train people's fitness. You can't train their ball sense, will to win etc which Rayner has in spades.

You can essentially turn anyone (baring injury) into a person with AFL level fitness. Picking guys based on their fitness is dumb is like picking a KPP who is dominating at junior levels because he is bigger and stronger than the other players (ie: polak, darling)

i never said don't pick him because of fitness, all i was meaning was that it will stop from playing 22 AFL games in the midfield next season, whereas LDU will play 22 games in the mid and will make a material difference to our side. Plus getting Fogarty who is similar to Rayner except less flashy (but has far greater flexibility). Basically would you rather LDU + Fogarty or Rayner + Cerra.

Based on no evidence, purely gut instinct, right now I don't think Brisbane will take Rayner.
A month ago our board seemed to written off Rayner as too much of a flight risk and had Dow (who played some junior footy with McCluggage and Berry) locked in at 1. That slowly shifted to LDU (whose parents own a house in Brisbane) when some whispers of Dow being keen on getting to Carlton came through.

Recently it seems to have turned yet again, and most are jumping on the Rayner train. He's apparently a big Essendon fan, and personally I feel like he'll end up there in a few years if we draft him. But I'm happy to back in Noble/Fagan and co.

All in all, no-one seems to have any firm word on who we're taking. The betting favourite seems to be Rayner at this point in time.

Sorry Meima probably not fair given your english second language thing- Seymour Butts is a joke name for crank calls 'Is there a Seymour Butts here?'. Think it was used in the Simpsons. Reckon young Jordan would straight away get Seymour as a nickname at any AFL club.

Seymore Butts is an American pornographic film director, producer, and occasional performer who has produced hundreds of films in the gonzo genre of pornography. Wikipedia

Seymour Butts is pronounced "see more" butts. So I am not surprised there is a pornographic director/actor with that name

On the whole I agree with you. There are probably some limits there though in terms of natural ceilings. Brad Hill has insane running endurance - and had that from the time he was drafted. If fitness was equally attainable - we'd have a whole team of Brad Hill's running around non-stop creating options on short kicks. It's definitely more trainable than skills, but not to the point it shouldn't be a consideration

IMO the best acquisitions your club has made recently has been Fagan, Noble and Hodge. They'll have a similar impact to your club as Ross Lyon had to ours. As soon as he stepped through the door, the professionalism in all aspect of the club rose dramatically and it actually felt like a well run, elite club with high standards. I hope your clubs enjoys some success in the future and the outflow of 'homesick' players dries up.

I get where you are coming from, but we are hamstrung until Brissie pull the trigger.

Regardless of who they pick out of UDL or Rayner we must take who's left. That's why #5 is so hard, if we snag Rayner will the club opt for a flexible type in Fog or go for a pure mid

Similarly if we get UDL do we then take a punt on Fogarty or who is left out of Stephenson, Cerra, Brashaw.

We are not winning a flag in the next 2-3 years, plenty of time to get so miles into Rayner to come through the midfield

The thought of Rayner/UDL & Fogarty leaves me drooling

Are you saying just because Jordon surname is Butts you can make fun of his whole family or try to relate him to Seymour. Then might as well said all Freo players go to Cockburn training facilities to get their cock burn .

The Australian way.

Like how Swallow is nicknamed Spitter. If there is a chance for an inappropriate nickname, then it is pretty much a certainty.
