As much as I think UDL already looks like a Cotchin/Goddard clone and will be very good I just can't stop thinking that Stephenson will be the best of the lot. Speed, marking, endurance and so much potential for growth. Think Norf will bounce at 4 if available so would need to go at 2. I also think we can grab that inside mid at 5 in either Brayshaw, Dogarty of Cerra. Anyway will trust the recruiters.

I hope not. He looked at least twice as good down back as he did up forward.

I suppose 1 of he or Cox probably has to play there though if we want all four of the KPD guys in the team.
I'd prefer Cox upfront. Watching him last season he reads the play so well and has incredibly good hands. The only thing stopping him from becoming a gun forward is his kicking for goal, although I'm not sure Alex Pearce is a much better kick either.

Fair call. I'd be filthy if we took Stephenson over LDU/Dow. I actually hope North take him at 4, so we have a choice of Cerra, Brayshaw, Fogarty or a KPP. Get the feeling we're going to overlook Fogarty (we should be onto him like white on rice though). If we end up with LDU/Cerra, I'd still very happy with that.

Don't think they f'd it up too bad. They got a flag out of him then brought in Kennedy as part of the trade who is probably the best FF in the league.

At the start of 2007 it felt like a toilet dynasty was before us. Fortunately it all unravelled breathtakingly fast - Judd and Cousins fell off a cliff that year and Kerr was never as good again.

I'm happy to leave him up there (especially in preference to Pearce) even though I still think he will be a better defender.

No doubt he and Ballas are working hard on his goal kicking.

Cox will improve a lot. Kid only just turned 19 a few months ago. Massive upside imo

I can live with their kicking not being so good. We need either a mark or a ball to ground contest. From my point of view I just hope they give the first crack at that to Taberner.

Shiel wields more direct influence on a game than Kelly IMO.. there were games/quarters where he single handedly dragged his team over the line this year. I think coaches know it too, they more often than not send someone to Shiel before Kelly.

Danger and Martin still out in front though for their sheer scoreboard impact as well as their work in the middle

I rate both extremely highly, but Kelly is in the megastar bracket - ridiculously balanced and elite decision maker.

I love Kelly as well, one of my favourite players to watch.. wouldn't sneeze at either of them. Unfortunately don't see a Kelly in this draft.. although LDU/Dow are similar types to Shiel

I would have thought that Shiel and Kelly were similar playerso_O ,correct me if I’m wrong, but both southpaws and hard in and under extractors of the footy ?

Love Kelly as a player, but for mine Shiel is even better.
If we get anybody close to his quality, we are laughing.
On a side note, if people haven't seen Dylan Shiel's hamstring exercise, youtube that.
The mix of ball winning, good decision making & explosive line breaking is exquisite!
