Definitely sounded a little shaky when asked that question. Still said the right things but didn't hear much conviction behind it.
Interesting. No doubt our recruiting team would be all over that and if there's any doubt they'd know about it. I'm learning actually how much time and effort clubs put into potential draftees to assess their personalities in particular with regards to being loyal whether they'll be a flight risk.

Might have to change my choice for pick 5.

Gold Coast move on pick 2.

Brisbane are looking at Brayshaw at pick 1.

I think there could be genuine flight risk concern for the top 3-4 players.

People are getting excited about Brayshaw going 1, I wouldn't be. As it stands(based on little) he seems the most likely to stay with us.

I would feel quite content picking Brayshaw and Fogarty.

I reckon talk of Brayshaw going #1 is just that - talk. He doesn’t seem to me to be the most likely candidate to end up as truly elite (just very, very good).

I also doubt he was in Lloyd’s mind when he spoke of a clear top 5 back in early October. Having said that, our thinking will have continued to evolve since then e.g. Stephenson’s heart condition, the late fitness tests for Rayner and others.
Could not agree more. There are a lot of AFL journalists needing to talk about the draft and having a set line up of picks is the worst result for interest, so you go with the "talk". Happens every year.

Brayshaw is not going to Brisbane.

So based on Cal Twomey's latest Phantom form guide today it seems he's about as clear on who we are going to take at #2 and #5 as the rest of us.

We appear to be linked to Rayner, UDL, Dow, Cerra, Stephenson and Brayshaw.

So Rayner @ #2, UDL @ #5, Dow @ #42, Cerra @ #60, Stephenson @ #66 and Brayshaw @ #70. And DFogarty @ #77 just to round things out. Think we'll then take Miller @ #80.

Read Twomey’s thing on the AFL website. Has his top 30 players and has a section on each player saying where they could go. Long story short he mentions us for each of his top six and no one else. Basically despite talking to clubs, player managers etc he still has NFI what we’re doing but the top six is pretty clear cut in Raynor, LDU, Dow, Cerra, Brayshaw and Stephenson.

I think it’s pretty clear our first two picks come from this group of players tbh. Can’t see there being too much of a shock next Friday.

Really like the way our club handles this kind of thing, channelling big Darcy and The Sshhhhhh!

For a while there a few years ago the draft journos phantoms released immediately before the draft where often 100% accurate right into the teens (Quayle etc.). I suspect this is because the clubs were leaking like sieves but they have become progressively tighter.
With us being totally 'give em nothing' and having 2 top 5 picks I wouldn't be suprised if everyone is way off this year.

I'd better not watch it then, as I don't want to ruin my work computer
You'll love this bit in the description then:

As well as pick two, Fremantle also possesses pick five, which leaves them in a great position to land either two top-rated midfielders, or a midfielder and a key defender.

Certainly made my decision not to hit the play button much easier.

Sharks. Anyone playing West Coast.
Don't rule out Paddy Dow at pick 2. If Collingwood don't take Naughton at 6 then St Kilda are likely to take him.
I don't expect St Kilda to do much with their early picks. Reckon they have us well covered for drafting first round spuds in recent times.

He seems the best choice. Good on the inside, explosive on the outside, has already moved away from home and is a bit more talented than Brayshaw. Would be hard to pass on LDU though.

There was a comment that both Cox and Logue can play other roles. That is one scenario where I think we could justify taking a KPD at pick 5, and even then it is a shaky decision. The other scenarios are if they think Naughton projects as a forward, or A Pearce has big question marks over his recovery.

My reading of the draft is that KPPs are going to be available later if we need. Better value early with pure mids (LDU/Dow/Cerra/Brayshaw) and mid/forwards (Rayner/Stephenson/Fogarty). One of each please.
