Found this write-up from the Age which isn't too bad (except again talking about rucks and nothing about key forwards) -

Fremantle stared down Gold Coast and managed to procure pick two for the departing Lachie Weller in the dying minutes of the trade period, an outstanding result given they'd lost a highly talented young midfielder. It's a bit of a cliche, but the Dockers hold the keys to the draft given they have two picks inside the top five, a position of rare power for a club other than Greater Western Sydney in recent years. The Dockers lack ruck depth but no rucks in this draft look good enough to take so early. The expectation of late is that the Dockers will take Luke Davies-Uniacke at pick two, with the well balanced and powerful midfielder looking like the kind of player who could slot straight into Ross Lyon's first-round team and make a difference. Pick five is a bit less clear. The recent talk that Andy Brayshaw could go to Brisbane at pick one has been a bit of a curveball, but if the Lions opt for Cameron Rayner or Paddy Dow then Brayshaw could head to the Dockers, with the prospect of Haileybury pair Davies-Uniacke and Brayshaw venturing to Perth together appealing. Fremantle also have a handful of late picks and there has been some chatter that they could draft Hamish Brayshaw as well. Local boy Aaron Naughton has been linked to Fremantle's pick five but that would probably be a reach for the tall defender, especially given they took Logue early last year and still have young Alex Pearce on their books. With Zac Clarke and Jon Griffin gone it's not hard to envisage Fremantle picking a mature ruckman as a late pick or rookie. It's understood they showed interest in long-time Melbourne back-up Jake Spencer during the year.

Sean Darcy completed his 2km time trail in 7:47. Sandi was 7.59, Ross Lyon was just behind him at 8:03.
I'm sorry guys, I love Rayner, but I really think he's tanking. He doesn't want to play for Brisbane or Freo. He's probably gone straight down to Princes Park and run a 6:40 time for the Carlton recruiters.
I don't subscribe to the 'we must take whoever is the best talent available' line. If a player doesn't want to play for us that's okay, we can find someone with the right attitude and get a really good team culture happening at the club.
He was running shit times long before two instate clubs had the top 2 picks or he himself was in the conversation for one.

Rayner was injured at the combine itself, that was what? Three weeks ago? He can't have lost that much condition. Fogarty at least has the excuse of having not played since July after knee surgery.
Not sure when he resumed running but he missed the end of the TAC cup season, last game he played was round 16 in mid August. So he could have been out for up to two and half months

I was wondering if we'd have a crack at Jake Spencer - He was pretty unlucky to be playing in a team with Max Gawn. I wonder if Ross will make a play for Billy Hartung. I've noticed over the last few years that Ross seems to have an obsession with all things Hawthorn....

Rayner was expecting to run the 2km at the combine... but then never did... AFL has said.. mate teams want to see you run a 2km..

So he was forced to!

One of the most sensible things I have read lately. It seems like a good combination.

Zero chance he tanked with all the recruiters and sports writers watching, he'd have to be an amazing actor to get away with it. Why tank, when you can simply be honest and tell interstate clubs not to take you? Also, people questioning his attitude can spare me, unless you know him personally, you're a hypocrite to question how badly he wants it.

Just going to throw it out there, flight risk for top draft picks (if taken by Freo) - lets try some rankings (most likely to leave to least likely):
1 - Rayner (ego)
2 - Cerra (metro kid - girlfriend)
3 - Stephenson (mummy's boy)
4 - Brayshaw (option to play for Melbourne as part of our Hogan trade)
5 - Dow (whatever)
6 - LDU (think he'll do okay in Perth)
7 - Fogarty (he'll love Perth - 100x better then Adelaide)
8 - Naughton (will save on relocation costs)
9 - Allen (will be our best forward option from round 1)
10 - Hayes (someone likes me?!)

He either doesn't want it or he doesn't have it. What difference does it make. He has had 3 years to improve his times. If a club is happy to take a classy forward then he is a good get, otherwise there has to be a question mark.

He wants it and in an AFL system he'll have it. Why is that difficult to understand? Your tank will build in an AFL environment, the club will force you to be fitter. D. Pearce struggled early with us fitness wise, now hes fine, were we questioning his commitment then?

Can't tell if this is a piss take post, or if you're actually being serious.

Anything over 7:45 is a joke for a potential draftee that isn't considered a ruckman or KPP. I'm a recreational runner and cyclist and even I could run 2 km in sub 7:00.

And increasing your fitness isn't 'easy' at all, it's a lot of slow, shitty km's; and then it's one thing to have the aerobic capacity, it's another thing to add in the repeat efforts while maintaining that aerobic capacity. I'd argue that for someone like Rayner, it would take a good three-four years until he had the tank to run through the midfield and run out a game at AFL level.

Does anyone think we may bring in a rayner or cerra and consider trading them to get a top ten pick next year. This may not be a huge consideration but may be a back up plan if one of pick 2 or 5 seem to be struggling with the interstate move

No one said easy, just easiest. increasing aerobic capacity is a lot easier than increasing anything skill based

Rayner did 2km in 7:57 which is pretty average to poor. Might be too risky for Brisbane and freo...

would presume they would be wearing etc. the pulse/heart monitor. If so wonder how the readings were towards the end? Level and sustained numbers would shed a bit different outcome. Conversely if still were increasing even toward the end would be a definite concern. Anyone know a bit about this stuff to shed some light?

Don't even joke about stuff like that. Hartung is terrible. I think Ross only likes the good things about Hawthorn.

Pretty safe to say none of us have any idea if any of the draftees are any kind of flight risk. If this was 2014, Weller the Tasmanian would probably be at the bottom of the list

Fair enough. If we pick him up send him straight to Gu for the summer, then we'll get a good glimpse of his dedication and mental toughness. Running 80+ km's a week in the sweltering Perth weather over a summer will be a real test.
