Strange fixturing a few years in a row now.
We play some MCG home games against clubs like Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Bulldogs at the MCG yet play a home games against Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium. Almost like they trying to reduce our crowd numbers on purpose.
6 games interstate for second year in a row.
Also find it odd why we play Port Adelaide in Adelaide in lop sided numbers their way but if we play Adelaide once in a season rare it is that one of those two clubs we have to play over there against.
I reckon if I looked up the history of Carlton and Port Adelaide meetings it is lopsided to unfair amount of home games their end. These things should be balanced out over a decade and not be so often the same way.

Also personal preference is for more Saturday games at expense of Sunday. Too many Sunday games for mine.
We should not have any home games at Etihad at day light hours. I hate it, it sucks. If we are playing a day game I want it outside with sun rays if possible. If we going to play a game at Etitihad it should only be a night game or twilight time game around 4-40 pm on a Saturday.

In the past it's always been more cost effective to play low attendance games at the MCG. Docklands requires a bigger crowd if you want to make a profit. Bizzare but true... Or at least it was true before the AFL bought the stadium.

I see us going 9-1 in our first ten games.

I feel like they are all winnable bar the Sydney game. Definite buzz around this fixture.

But the optimism I have is often a curse.

I can't see it.

We'd have to have everyone fit and firing, absolutely no midfield injuries AT ALL, McKay Curnow and Sumner kicking bags in the forwardline and everything running like clockwork.

I thought last year we put team development way in front of winning. We played players at the earliest possible time and even when form or fitness may not have warranted it. They did this because they want to churn the list and see everyone they think who has ability being tested.

That won't change this year .

Bottom 4 for me.

I dont feel there will be as much churning as we would have done most of that last year. Start moving away from turnign over the list to starting to get the team performing as a team and settling week in week out... bottom 6 from me.

Has anyone gone with an AFL travel package for an interstate game before? I'm looking at the Brisbane game--can do flights, accommodation for 2 nights and tickets to the game for about $350 per person.

That sounds pretty good. I have always booked my own flights and accomodation when I have gone interstate. If there is a group going it would work out cheaper booking your own as the accomodation would be shared.

Yeah I had a look at Airbnb because there could be up to 5 of us and I found some good apartments...but the flights are $250 return so it's about the same really.

I guess we'll just have to hope for the best! We only lost to Sydney by 6 points last year (the second time) and with new guys coming in and old guys improving we could be in for a better finish to the season than last year. Maybe bordering on the top eight. Don't expect to finish higher than that!

Agree we may win 5 to 8 games but other teams will have strenghten too, most of the teams around us in bottom 5 this year will improve next year, we need another big swipe at a strong draft, I'd be after priority pick 19 too and finally trade Gibbs so as to fill up with more talent and then upwards and onwards in 2018.
Go Baggers

If we'd learnt nothing we wouldn't have cut hard again.

We also learnt plenty about the people we brought in.

Doesn't mean we'll shoot up the ladder in 2017.

We should have also learnt last year that we werent as bad as people thought we were going to be, and most of those cut played little part in last season.

Gold Coast trip booked. If anyone is interested Virgin has a sale ending midnight tonight and you can get fares for $99.
Always good to get away from Melbourne at that time of the year.
