I don't subscribe to the theory that he's dreadful on clay, well I do, he's dreadful normally because his attitude sucks. He's more than capable of being an ok claycourter.

The issue is that there are so many good clay courters around that you have to be better than "ok" on the surface to get anywhere. There are too many unseeded potholes in the draw on clay to get by just being ok. I don't really see him having the game to elevate his level on clay far beyond that mark.

Pretty good game to fix against Bernie on clay for a challenger level clay courter. Challenger player starts strong favourite, the bookies will let you on Bernie at good odds ok, no one going to raise too many eyebrows as Bernie is the more talented player.
