Just had a look at the scoreline looks like momentum swings were big in the match. Ash Barty should make a decent run at the U.S open this year
the 3rd set was closer than what the scoreline suggested. It was on Mug racquet and Ash tried to make it hard for her by going for long depth shots. eventually, a couple of costly errors to lose both her serves ended the match.

Interesting match ups for the aussies next round

Kyrgios v dolgopolov
Barty v williams
Gavrilova v giorgi

If they all being there A game could see all 3 win, Barty has the toughest but she has being having a good year so wouldn't put it past her

Thought I'd make special mention of Priscilla Hon (#354) and her effort this week. Usually she's playing 25K & 60K Futures tourneys and she's had better results in doubles winning 3 x 25K & 1 x 60K ITF events this year alone. This week however it was in singles in the Vancouver ITF 100K where she won 5 matches incl 3 qualifiers and 2 MD and lost her QF 6-4 6-4.

The downside is she has missed out on the USO MD WC playoff in New Haven where they have played the QFs already:

(1)Rodionova d. Hon w/o
(3)Aiava d. Birrell 6-1 6-1
(4)Rogowska d. Fourlis 6-2 6-2
(2)Cabrera d. Perez 6-4 6-4

The last time this happened was with the French Open, where Aiava made the SF in a 60K ITF and missed the MD WC playoff but because of her high ranking she got to play in the Qualifiers whereas with Hon she won't :(

Jordan Thompson is into the final of the Vancouver Challenger tonight. To his credit I always think he plays a good mix of Challengers and Main Tour events. I think that helps him maintain his ranking and keep some confidence.

Jacob Grills won the final of the Thailand futures event.

Alex Bolt is into the final round of qualifying at the Winston-Salem event.

Barty/Dellacqua just choked in their New Haven Doubles Final. They had a mini-break twice in the Super TB only to piss it away o_O

Matt Barton who has been off the court for close to six months is playing qualifying of the Carey Challenger in the US this week.

Kelly, Saville and Jasika are all in the main draw of the Shanghai Challenger. Matosevic, Mousley and Chaplin are in the qualifying.

I think most other Australians are in Belgium either as players or hitting partners while others are preparing for the Australian Futures Tour which start next week.
