Happy with Dayne Beams as skipper. He's matured a great deal since coming up to Brisbane. One thing I just understand is all the Rockliff stuff. We were desperate to get rid of him because he had issues as skipper last year and he is VC this year. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I'm a big fan of the appointment. Dayne Beams will be a terrific captain for this club and the fact that he's a gun on field and a Queenslander will help marketability wise. Rockliff and Zorko as the Vice/Deputy will offer quality support.

Andrews has often been spoken about as an outstanding young leader so good to see him in the leadership group.

From all reports both Martin and Bundy really stepped up as leaders this pre season and have well and truly earned their spots in the leadership group.

Froggy Lester may not be the best player on our list but he oozes professionalism and sets a good standard on the track. That's a big tick in the coaches eyes I reckon and he obviously has te respect of his peers.

In terms of those not selected I thought Robinson might be included, however, perhaps the boys see him as more of a big brother and less of a leader. He sets a good standard both on the field and on the training track and appears to be a great mentor for the younger players but perhaps isn't suited for some of the roles required of those in the leadership group.

Daniel Rich is a top bloke but I agree with his omission. He just needs to focus on his own game and playing consistent footy. He will continue to offer support to the playing group as an experienced player outside of having an official leadership position.

Can't it simply be that Rockliff circa 2017 is a much improved product over Rockliff 2015-2016?

Im not against an environment where a player can redeem themself and be acknowledged for it.

It can be but I'm still struggling to make sense of it all. It will be a bit weird having Rockliff captaining when Beams is out injured. The truth is Rockliff was never ready for the Captaincy and didn't really have the support he needed when he was given the job.

Good on him, wish him all the best. I just hope that the team can have a few wins early in the season to build confidence within the group and take a lot of pressure off the captain. And coach. He says he is passionate about the footy club and that is what we need. You would expect anyone to be very nervous put in that situation but i thought he handled it quite well.

If Beams rolls with the mustache all season we could be looking at the greatest appointments the club has ever made...

Rocky, Martin and Bundy were three that were rumoured to leave last year or at the end of their current contracts. I hope this isn't a way to try to keep them here.

Of those, the Bundy rumors were never really substantial IIRC (one or two posts on the forum) and got squashed pretty quickly by an instagram post from Bundy and Stef re-signed at the end of 2015. I never heard anything about him leaving last year?

No way in hell that is the case. Chris Fagan is a professional and has quite clearly taken this whole process very seriously and taken the time to make the correct decision.

Stef already re-signed long-term and I don't recall the Bundy rumour as having any substance to it. So, no, I don't think so. And we seem to have a new, reformed Rocky on our list. All to the good.

It's entirely possible they were unhappy under Leppa - many were in the end - but have seen what Fagan and his team have to offer and are on board and fully committed to the cause.

I totally ruddy called. it.

No M.Robbo in the leadership group! Very very unlucky for that I feel considering how much he has busted his guts on the field, as well as the mentor senior role he's taken on off field over the off season.
Agree, I think we've missed a great contriibutor..does this reflect the players call I wonder?

And I hope we're not gifting Lester games on the back of this decision.
It is an interesting one isn't it, where does he play. Hff or mid. Half back? Doesn't have enough pace to play there, Or to be a pressure forward. Anyway, see what pans out.
