Who plays second ruck....McKay?

I don't think there's any chance we're throwing a young key forward into the ruck straight away. Basically, we have to include one of Casboult, Rowe or Phillips (when fit) every week.

Just a tiger supporter having a crack probably way off the mark.
Personally i think there needs to be a real balance between experienced players and kids and good structure is a must. Have included height/size and age/experience
FB: Smedts 190/85 age 24 gms 38 - Rowe 199/98 age 29 gms 73 - Marchbank 193/90 age 20 gms 7.
HB: Docherty 187/87 age 23 gms 70 - Wietering 195/96 age 19 gms 20 - Simpson 181/76 age 32 gms 264.

C: Kerridge 187/87 age 23 gms 48 - Cripps 195/93 age 22 gms 44 - E Curnow 181/86 age 28 gms 109.
R: Kruezer 200/101 age 27 gms 140 - Gibbs 187/85 age 28 gms 209 - Murphy 180/80 age 29 gms 214

HF: Wright 178/75 age 27 gms 116 - McKay 200/95 age 19 gms 0 - Armfield 182/80 age 30 gms 140
FF: C Curnow 194/91 age 20 gms 6 - Casboult 201/103 age 27 gms 72 - LeBois 175/67 age 18 gms 0

INT: SPS 180/74 age 19 gms 0 - Cunningham 183/80 age 20 gms 3 - Palmer 181/84 age 29 gms 122 - Graham 182/83 age 22 gms 28.

I think this is the right sort of mix plenty of experienced players all over the ground with a good sprinkling of juniors.Lots of height and size and plenty of run.

Not a bad attempt. Except, plowman, cuningham, Pickett play. McKay, Lebois, SPS won't.

$2 in the Cuningham jar thank you very much :D

Is that a typo or can I see Graham named on the interchange??

Honestly these highlights alone is enough for me to want us to play Jaksch instead of Casboult.

I know Jaksch isn't in the team is his own fault and likely bad attitude, but geez im so sick of Casboult missing easy goals i just want to see a talented forward line like 6 x Pickett & Weiterings.

Phillips placed on LTI on 21st of Jan but that only goes for 8 weeks i believe, so he could still be back for round 1 if hes ready to go? which is extremely unlikely after missing majority of pre season.

Hows he travelling right now? could he be back for early part of the AFL season

Edit: And Gorringe? he out for a while?

Also i feel Charlie Curnow and J.Silvagni fighting for the same spot

I hate seeing White in the team for me aswell but to play Weitering forward i guess you to or A.Silvagni.

Marchbank - Rowe - Plowman

Docherty - A.Silvagni - Simpson

Kerridge - Cripps - E.Curnow(getting enough of it but frustrating type)

M.Wright - Weitering - Palmer

C.Curnow - Casboult - Pickett

Kreuzer - M.Murphy - Gibbs

Int: D.Thomas, Smedts (getting enough of it but frustrating type), Armfield, Lamb, SOS

Feel like 2 spots available for those last 3 players. Maybe can only play one of Armfield/Palmer or one of C.Curnow/SOS

Last spot is pretty open to Lamb, Sumner, Graham, etc.
I was pretty frustrated with Smedts, not keen on him in the side personally. Weitering can rotate with Rowe if needed, but we need someone who can lead up, take marks and make good decisions. I don't think Levi can be dropped, but we can't just have him as the tall marking forward.

For now it looks like Kerridge, Thomas, Cuningham, Buckley and Smedts are battling it out for those final four spots in the team.

It's a shame that McKay isn't ready to jump into the senior team yet, but it'll be great when he does. Weitering is going to roll forward when Levi is in the ruck/on the bench.

Hmmm genuine guess here, not hoping this will be the team, just what I think it'll be. So, I reckon round 1 will look something like....

FB: Docherty, Rowe, Plowman
HB: Smedts, Marchbank, Simpson
C: Kerridge, Murphy, E. Curnow
HF: SOS, Weitering, Thomas
FF: Pickett, Casboult, C Curnow
R: Kruezer, Gibbs, Cripps

I/c: Armfield, Palmer, White, Cuningham

Best 22 based on my pre-seasons observations:
- appears Weitering will play forward
- Smedts looked okay but Im not certain yet
- Kerridge is probably needed due to our dearth of experienced midfielders
- I would prefer Sheehan down back but wouldn't surprise if White gets the gig - holding the spot for Byrne
- I would like Cuninghams and Armfields run, and C Curnows X factor in the air combined with his ability to go through the middle
- SPS is the guy I want see on the field the most

B: Plowman - Rowe - Simpson
HB: Docherty - Marchbank - Sheehan/Byrne
C: Smedts - Cripps - E. Curnow
HF: J. Silvagni - Weitering - Pickett
F: Kerridge - Casboult - Wright
R: Kruezer - Gibbs - Murphy

Interchange:
C. Curnow, Armfield, Cuningham, SPS

My emergencies in order of preference
Emerg: White / Palmer / Le Bois / Le Bois / McKay / Macreadie / Polson / Williamson / Jaksch / Lamb / Daisy / A Silvagni / Phillips

Thanks for the video. Music reminds me a bit of some old Midnight Oil stuff.

Round 1:

Docherty Marchbank Plowman

Simpson Weitering Smedts

E Curnow Cripps Cuningham

Kreuzer Gibbs Murphy

JSOS C Curnow Palmer

Pickett Casboult Wright

INT: Rowe Kerridge Armfield Daisy

By the end of the year hoping for Byrne, Fisher, SPS, McKay, Sumner, McCreadie, Lebois & Polson to be pressuring/replacing our senior plodders.

Smedts had 21 touches and 5 tackles last night. Reckon he is a lock for round 1.

I have him easily ahead of Thomas, Lamb and Palmer.

Also had 3 shots on goal getting in good positions. He missed all 3, but still it's good signs.

I never see Lamb in space he's always got an opponent right on his hammer, which suggests he hasn't got the smarts or the speed/agility to break away from his defender.

Smedts, Palmer and Thomas are all a lock for round 1. We may not all agree but they just are. As is Casboult. I'm wondering who will make their debut in round 1.. i'm hoping at least 2 hopefully 3 debuts.

Personally smedts gets in before all of graham lamb Palmer armfield and SOSOS. the midfield rotation plus the tackle pressure is enough to earn him a spot. If he had of kicked those 3 goals last night we'd be singing a different tune and he'd be spoken about next to Pickett.

In terms of debuts for Carlton, surely Smedts, Palmer, Marchbank & Pickett are all locks.

SPS will depend on his injury status, while the likes of Fischer, Macreadie, Polson etc might get a look in later in the season.

Agree except your mention of SOSOS.

SOSOS is a must to play basically every game, he's got good skills and knows how to lead.

And he plays a completely different position to Smedts.
