I must say after catching up on a lot of the videos today the kid that excites me the most is Nick Coffield. He looks perfect for modern footy. Absolutely elite skills and decision-making from what I can see. And the thing I love is he never seemed rushed because he is very quick off the mark and uses that speed perfectly to give him time and space to make a decision and then execute it.

Half-back, midfield, who cares, I can see him being a Corey Enright type who'll just turn up week in week out for years and barely ever make a wrong decision in his whole career no matter where he plays. Would be rapt to get him.

While we would all probably like Rayner etc if we are realistic and look at the best of what should be available at 7/8 Clark is a standout. I would even consider him with picks 3 or 4 if we had them. He's got star written all over him. His size is the bonus. Could see him being another Bont.
You would, but none of the paid "experts" would .

+1.

Wouldn’t be disappointed with Coffield at 7/8.

To me if that plays out like that then there is a greater chance that one of Brayshaw and Cerra gets to us as you would think one of them goes to Freo at 5 and Collingwood take Naughton or Coffield at 6. So Cerra/Brayshaw and Clark or Cerra/Brayshaw and Bonar or even Cerra/Brayshaw and Coffield maybe?

Less than 6 days - hurry up already!!!
from what I’m told would be extremely unlikely we grab two mids. If cerra is somehow there we will definitely take him over Clark and then will probs just pick best available which will probably be Nick Coffield (as staff rate him high and is versatile and fills a need cerra doesnt) or a high slider(eg. Steph, the three etc.) . If we address the need for bringing in a pure mid and coff or another big slider isn’t there then that’s when talks regarding bonar and Murphy come in but doubt Clark and cerra will both be taken at 7n8. If cerra and brayshaw there then im not sure we could resist taking a mid then just pick best available in another mid but I don’t think staff have considered that yet.also source didn’t mention fogs but at the same time definitely wouldn’t rule him out especially if it’s true we are into him(what joirnos saying)

god knows who we get at 7 and 8 but at 34 it would be good to get Kelly , played in the WAFL against men and some of them were AFL players - this to me shows they can make the grade and could be in the team from round one, has x-factor , however is he willing to head east
the guy is good

At this point I'm really hoping for Stephenson and Clark. Both players suit our needs perfectly and could walk into our round one team.

B: Webster, Brown, Geary
HB: Roberton, Carlisle, Savage
C: Acres, Steele, Sinclair
HF: Billings, Bruce, Stephenson
F: Gresham, McCartin, Membrey

Foll: Longer, Ross, Steven
Int: Clark, Dunstan, Gilbert, Newnes

That would be the most exciting, pacy St Kilda team to take the field for a long time. And I love the fact that all six starting forward have the capacity to kick a bag on any given day - no more impotent defensive forwards in the side. Not to mention mids like Acres, Steven, Sinclair, Steele, Dunstan and Clark who are all capable of hitting the scoreboard as well as Roberton, Carlisle and Savage from defence.

Gee whiz clark will do me...

Seems no doubt he'll be available, pair him with one of cerra/stephenson/brayshaw.

Done
Clark Brayshaw the dream combination.
Clark Cerra still smashing result
Clark Stephenson and we have still nailed it

Has a touch of winmar magic, why isn't he talked up as top 20?

From what I understand at the moment it's very much likely to be Clark & one of Bonar/Fogarty. Saints were in SA recently doing a home visit for Fogs, but at the same time Nth 4 & poss. Coll 6 could take Fogarty. Bonar could even go at 6 - but unlikely from what I hear lately.
Talk of Coffield to Saints gone quiet?

This all makes a lot of sense to me and is very plausible. In particular not wanting to take 2 "pure mids", as that would be overkill, IMO.

Could be hard enough trying to find a spot in the midfield for one of them over the next couple of years, let alone two of them.

Would have to think that Coffield/Stephenson and one of Cerra/Brayshaw/Clark/Bonar would be a massive chance.

If all of Rayner, LDU, Dow, Cerra, Brayshaw and Coffield are gone and we aren't prepared to take the risk of Stephenson, then I reckon Clark is a certainty, and that we'd pair him up with one of Bonar, Murphy, Fogarty or Naughton.

Going on the 2km time trial results from Friday, If Charlie Constable ran a 7min58sec after missing the draft combine because of a hip injury. Why is Cameron Rayner so much better after running 7min.57sec after coming back from a knee injury?
Does this mean Rayner hasn’t come back as strong & is as slow as Constable or are both faster, but still recovering from their respective injuries?

if he is perfect in every single way like your describing, why isnt he being talked about in the top group of draftees and instead seen as a potential reach at 7/8?

As I said before he has his issues like every player. I think Stephenson will be the best player from this draft but he's not perfect. Hunter can **** his kicks up sometimes, he's very focussed on moving the ball into attack which isn't always the better option, he's prone to taking on the contact and can get caught etc.

He's probably similar to Stephenson in that it's disposal quality that holds him back for the top picks. Stephenson better because if he doesn't make it as a mid he'd still give you an incredible attacking weapon if you played him in a Billings type role. HC might end up another running back if he can't make it on a wing or inside mid.

To me recruiters place too much emphasis on kicking, testing etc. Both these guys have the X factor that make guys like Dangerfield and Fyfe special players, not every player with X factor becomes a special player though. I think recruiters like guys like Brayshaw because you know you will get 100% commitment and there won't be much risk he plays plenty of good footy, just doesn't have the tricks and elusive qualities of the higher risk guys like Bonar, Stephenson and Hunter Clark.
