Agree Fogarty is a favorite a 193 cm midfielder forward Bull at the contest pays center forward how one would spilt I'm not sure untill we see more of him.
Probably 40/60 Darcy is a good footballer no doubt , but that's the piont we already have Cripps and Charlie C which are in similar physics , talent.
That's why I lean towards J. Stephenson ofor X factor , natural footy IQ and speed all tributes which cannot be taught.

It's an interesting point, do you take another player like Cripps. Fogarty will not provide a lot of run and carry.

I don't think we can take for granted the idea Charlie will be a midfielder. At the moment a lot of his possessions seem to be coming from marks. He may be a chf, l think it's still a bit unknown at this stage.

If l thought Fogarty was the best midfielder l would take him but l certainly understand why others would look for a midfielder with more run.

I don't like the idea of being so dependant on Cripps. Charlie's midfield abilities still an unknown and Gibbs, who does some of our contested work, is probably leaving. If Cripps does his knee next week Carlton have very little backup and life would become difficult for the whole team.

Whoever Carlton take they must have some sort of contested ball game and contribute around the clearances.

I don't know anything about this years draft, haven't really seen any of them play. Really hoping about 3 guns can emerge from the pack (in case we end up with pick 3) in the back end of the year and announce themselves

I fully expect our first pick to tick the following criteria:
1. Good character
2. Hard at it
3. Elite pace
4. Elite skills
5. Primarily midfielder

Can't see us taking a big bodied mid unless the have elite speed/acceleration to go with it.

Certainly won't take anyone with questionable disposal.

I read Knightmares top 20 and it does not sound like there is much depth this year so far. Hope a few step up at the Champs.
Maybe not having a second round pick is not a big deal?

Sounds like the Top 20 are really good and then it gets a little messy.

Time to load up on picks inside that first 20.

Agreed. Cripps needs help.
Reality is we need all types in midfield so take best player available. That's the general rule with first round picks anyhow.

Fogarty looks like he could be handy resting fwd too. Reminds me of a slower Riccuitto.

I have absolutely no idea about this draft and for me at this time of the year and the amount of time I've had sitting at home recently with a broken leg it seems strange. I'm not sure if it's a reflection on me caring less this year, normally I have a fairly good grasp of the top end players at least, or if it's how vanilla, uninteresting and news worthy this crop is?

Besides this, I'd like us to pick up a top end 60/40 inside/outside hybrid type. Think our team needs midfield support and a player like this would balance out the Cripps' and Curnows' from the SPS', Cuningham's and Pickett's. What I mean is someone that's prepared to get very dirty; inside ball and tackling etc. but someone that's not a turnover merchant when they get the ball on the spread and is neat and creative on the outside, perhaps kick a few long goals from the midfield? Like a Mitch Robinson type that can actually kick and perhaps a little less manic with their body and actions...? Is Jack Ziebell a good example? Dayne Beams maybe is more like what I'm saying? Josh Kelly is a reasonable current example, but he is probably more outside silk, gun who's not soft and he is really the top end, like the very top talent. Maybe I just want the last three players combined who will take us to 17 and win a couple of Brownlow's and Norm Smith's along the way. Surely not asking too much?
