Based on this, I'm thankful you are not there on draft night.

Pick 3, you take the best player available...which means if Raynor is there, then you take him.
Bit harsh. The interviews mean so much and we have no idea how they have gone.

As a pure midfield player with all the tools I’d take LDU over Rayner but that’s is only on watching him play. I have no idea what either are like or their backgrounds

Dow may well be tthe draft's pick 1 with Cerra at pick 2 and who knows after that.
Reckon we would snaffle Rayner at pick 3.
However, Dow would be a good pick up if Rayner and Cerra were gone.
I still think SOS stuffed up not getting us the Top 4 picks in this years draft. It would solve so many issues

This is very true.

Despite these kinds of players being A grade potential and match winners, i think there is a limit to how many you actually want in one team since you still need the accumulators to win games week in, week out.

To add to those 3 even Fisher & Cuningham aren't exactly big possession winners either so just based on that i'd want one of Dow/LDU/Cerra over Rayner.
It’s interesting you should say that as Rayner averages slightly more possessions than Dow and only 3 less than LDU but kicks shitloads more goals.

Rayner must be the luckiest footballer in the comp, ball keeps bouncing his way even whilst having cardiac arrest after running for a hundred metres

This has been bothering me for some time, who Dow reminds me of, and now I've got it.... Robert Harvey... Strong and aggressive to win the hard ball then has that break away run.

I can see the LDU Judd comparisons. Judd quicker though. I think it's LDUs size and agility and good run that draws the comparisons.

Raynar Troy Bond or Dusty?

Cerra, not sure...
1981, (sincerely) just wondering if you might have confused Troy Bond with someone else?

At any rate, Rayner himself said in an interview that he can see similarities between the way he plays and Petracca.

Thought I'd also mention, someone said that it might be worth comparing Rayner to Gazza.

Raynar does look at times a cross between Troy Bond and Lindsay Thomas.

Will he end up more like these guys or more like Dusty??
Dusty started his career as a midfielder with good endurance behind him. Later he got rested up fwd for a spell. I don’t think cams a dusty type

I'll remain with pick 1. Dow and Cerra pick 2 think they'll firm that way, over the next weeks. They are the safer more conservative choices but talented 200 gamers + maybe with lesser defecencies which will appeal.
Pick 3 is we're the gamble begins, Ability , Endurance, Physique , X Factor?
I'll say Rayner or Stephenson and reckon that either will be gun Baggers.
Something tells me Silvagni & Brodie want something special again first up.
We snuffled SPS last year still a warm feeling, about that selection he'll be an absolute gun.

Dow going number 1 would be a great result for us.

Wonder who Freo would go with if LDU, Rayner and Cerra are available?

there would need to be some love for the talls for that to happen.
1 - 4: Dow, LDU, Rayner, Cerra
5: Naughton
6: Brayshaw
7: Fogarty
8: Constable
9: Coffield
10: Stephenson..

Still Bonar, Clarke and Brander to potentially throw around in there as well.

The Big 4, Coffield, Naughton, Brayshaw definitely go top 9.. the question therefore lies... is Stephenson one of the other two in the top 9?

So you want us to take Higgins at 3? He is after all the best player available, being the Morrish medalist.

Rayner isn't the best player, just the one draft watchers are projecting has the highest ceiling

I spoke with the Vic Metro coach tonight who gave me a little insight into the draft. He clearly has Rayner as the best player in this draft pool, then daylight. He does have Cerra at number 2 (may be a little biased) but rates Dow very highly. He has no doubts that Cerra is a 250 game player and is adamant that whoever selects him will have a very, very good player. He doesn't know too much about LDU.

Another source close to Vic Metro (definitely not the coach) also suggested that Rayner missing the combine was no accident. He would very much like to stay in Melbourne.
As much as I'd like to believe this is true it is, come draft day, out of Rayner's hands. Following this thread from start to finish and the constant oscillation amongst the group as to who is best and most suitable our needs it's clear that any of the top 4 -5 players would be valuable at our club but more important is the how we develop whoever we select after the draft. I would prefer to have the best development system in the league rather than the best recruiter. Obviously a combination of the 2 is ideal - given that SoS is up there, I'm curious to know who now is in charge for player development at the Blues.
