Hayes hasn't even been invited to the draft (19 have been invited). There is no way he will be going at either of Freo's picks. Considering that neither North or Carlton would recruit Naughton with pick 3 or 4, there is also no way Freo would take Naughton at pick 2 (if they were at all interested in him).FWIW - I’ve just read two articles from the last month or so that speculate that FRE, with their 3rd pick being in the 40’s, may like Naughton at 2 and Hayes at 5 instead of a mid. Now that would be awesome for us. With some word that Rayner is firming for BRI, I can feel a Uniacke coming on. It also pushes at least one more option back to our 10. +++++++++
You mean Dow isn't our man?im losing hope that Dow will be there @ 3
No one could claim you don't stick to your guns, that's for sure.I'll stick to my guns and go with gut feel that top 3 will be:-
Pick1 Dow
Pick 2 Cerra
Pick 3 Rayner

Agree there Terry. What are your thoughts on starcevich or Stoddart at 30?
Yeah I remember reading that rumour. I thought it was bizarre considering they just unearthed Darcy who looks like a 10 year ruckman.FWIW - I’ve just read two articles from the last month or so that speculate that FRE, with their 3rd pick being in the 40’s, may like Naughton at 2 and Hayes at 5 instead of a mid. I was extremely keen on O'Brien at 10, but didnt like the rumour someone posted about the Vic Coach saying he was scared of his own shadow.Reckon we get one of Raynor or Cerra at 3 and Obrien at 10. Would be stoked with that. Outside run and class.

That was a WA paper running with that wasn't it? Pie in the sky stuff from them.Yeah I remember reading that rumour. I thought it was bizarre considering they just unearthed Darcy who looks like a 10 year ruckman.
Also Hayes said the other day on Sen that he'll be home on draft night. Suggests that he's not on anyones top ten list.

I'm not sure Naughton will go earlier than one of the Saints' picks myself.
Agreed. If we get Rayner at #3, we need a pure midfielder at #10. Constable or Clark for me.
Thanks Terry.I don't mind either, but i would have others around the mark ahead personally.
Silvagni has stated that we are after mids and forwards so i take that to mean 3, 10 and 30. That is really what we need badly. So i doubt we take Stoddart, even though it has been rumoured. Stoddart may be able to play wing also but i can't see us taking him. I only see us taking that type if maybe Ed Richards drops(but he almost certainly won't). Stoddart and Ling are the left footer types that we seem to like, but i just don't see it with them at #30 when we need mid/forwards in bulk.
Starcevich fits the mould and looks/sounds promising. I haven't seen much of him but apparently he doesn't get much ball yet but has a lotta tools. At #30 my favorite is Will Walker who looks the goods to me as a goalkicking forward who already plays well in the midfield as well. He has the pace and touch and goal nous of Will Haywood imo.
If Lochie Fogarty drops(doubtful) i would be keen on him too. But Walker should be available. Starcevich and Jackson Ross would be looked at.
My pref is 2 mid/forwards at #3 and #10 and Will Walker or L.Fogarty at #30.
Utter lunacy should freo take that option. With Darcy in the squad why would they want Hayes at all.. let alone to reach at #5.FWIW - I’ve just read two articles from the last month or so that speculate that FRE, with their 3rd pick being in the 40’s, may like Naughton at 2 and Hayes at 5 instead of a mid. Starting to get a Scharenberg sort of feel to the situation.Surely Worpel won't slip to Essendon at 48, that's highway robbery

That would be massive fall if he didn’t get draftedShould slip further imo. I wouldn't draft him.
The kid is a human cannonball the problem is he can't kickThat would be massive fall if he didn’t get drafted
I would (I don't know about distraught, but disappointed), I think Fogarty will end up doing what Rayner does, only at a higher level.Think you are taking this to the extreme. No-one is suggesting Rayner is not worthy of a top 6 pick, what is being debated is whether he is in top 3 calculations, given certain weaknesses, like all players. I am confident, that none of our supporters would be distraught if SOS selects him

Kid is a contested animal and his kicking seems to be getting worse and worse despite the season finishing weeks ago. His clearance work and tackling will see him make it as an AFL playerShould slip further imo. I wouldn't draft him.
Scharenberg couldn't run, couldn't kick. That's Bentick territory.Starting to get a Scharenberg sort of feel to the situation.
