How did I know.......

The moment I let an opportunity for a lame dad joke or sarcastic reply pass, I will know I have played BF for one thread too long and I will hang up my keyboard....

Until then, posts are just a number. I'm in the form of my life and feeling flipper than ever :)

Nothing wrong with a lame dad joke.

Seen a few people throw the US rookie ruckman into consideration for a late pick. Given we're currently working with Korchek, is there much point committing to teaching another Yank how to football? Surely a 4 year project player with a snowball's chance in hell of making it is a silly path to take. If we want a ruckman, it needs to be someone who could feasibly come into the seniors in 2019/20 (ie. mature age draftee, traded in player, or 18-year-old prodigy) otherwise we're just treading water.

If we want to use a Cat B spot, I'd rather dip back into the Irish talent pool and bring a young fella over for Byrne to mentor. We'd get a player with a decent starting skill base, and would get the added benefit of giving Byrne a better case to stick around if Sheehan has to be let go.

Worth the risk if this ends up being the case. Maybe already having Korcheck might help the recruitment of this guy in comparison to other clubs. Working alongside each other might fast track his development also.

I played some high school cricket. Between the box and your pads you certainly had to get comfortable being uncomfortable....

Beep test, 3km time trial dumped from Draft Combine

Some interesting changes involved for this years draft combine.
Shock value from the headline aside, good changes.

I wasn't familiar with the specifics of the yoyo test, and thought it was just another name for the beep test/shuttle run. I can see why they've made the change, and removed the repeat sprints as a result.

Dropping the 3km to 2km is a sound change as well given it's not very representative of AFL footy, and the yoyo test seems to take some of that aspect anyway.

So far Ethan Penrith has been in the bests 3 times in 9 games of TAC Cup footy playing for the Knights. Although thats not terrific , it does suggest the kid can play and may warrant our discounted selection.

A couple of write-ups see him as a tough, pacy, hard running rebounding defender. "There are very few players at this level which can match his blistering speed and agility in tight spaces. He is able to side-step and sprint away from tacklers using these traits which make him a very difficult proposition to handle for opposing teams. His tackling is also a feature of his game which impresses".

Was ill so played forward for the Knights on the weekend. Had 8 disposals and kicked a goal whilst also showing his regular pressure and work rate. Id take the punt on him with our 4/5/6th round picks at this rate.

Has to improve his disposal from the write-ups I have seen.

That's the best thing about being a dad. All of my lame jokes instantly became lame dad jokes. Apparently that's slightly more acceptable.

I've been practicing for some time now.
Got quite a few in my arsenal.

Lets not let a players Physic distract. We need footy IQ, X factor , just good skills, for midfielders and talls, especially kicking with penetration and accuracy and some speed while we're at it.
Hardness would be great too but that's a luxury.
Stephenson is our man in this year's draft hope we call out his number.

With pick #2? I wouldn't do it.

With the Crows 1st? Yep.

Can't see us taking him with our first pick, but if we find ourselves with another pick in the teens, would certainly look at him then.
