I don't care if the points don't exist the way I set out, I used that as an example of how they may rate Rayner vs Dow.

Correct which means the way you're trying to realistically grade between two players is ridiculous!

Because there can never be two points out of ten 20% difference between two guys considered with one pick

Rayner in my opinion opinion has a ceiling of Petracca and a ground floor of Lennon.

I'm not anti-Rayner guys. He's worked very hard to ensure he's the best footy player he can be. No one would be more aware of his own short-comings than Rayner himself. I just don't see any plausible way he ends up at the Blues if he tests average or better in the endurance areas of the Combine.

I reckon the big unknown is how he interviews which carries a lot of weight with SOS. From hearing him being interviewed at the Champs and from a few of the things I have seen from him playing I am not sure he would be at the top of SOS's list.

I would say a ground floor of Dusty playing half forward, ceiling of Dusty minus the gut running.

Also, I read a lot of Dangerfield comparisons for Dow, I see a little more Dayne Zorko - what are your thoughts?

I still can't see past Rayner, I see a little weakness below his knees with ground balls, but I think he could play a key role up forward for us (thinking 20-25 goal a year forward in his first year) as he develops his tank.

I know a couple of here don't like LDU at our pick, but I really like the cut of his jib, and think he and Cripps in the middle for the next decade is really promising prospect.

End of the day, I think we can get a 200 gamer at pick 3 regardless, which is a great result for the footy club.

If Rayner is the best player available we need to take him. We're not in a position to be reaching. Plus if Kennedy comes in that would help the midfield.

That's the risk - we don't. See Aaron Francis at Essendon.

However, nailing these picks are the difference between a premiership and not. IMO.

Rayner will still be a very good player. All the U18 boffins don't have him going at No.1 for no reason. For me, the issue is we need genuine mids, and more specifically, a couple of quality inside mids a lot more than a HFF/cameo-mid. Irrespective of how he tests at the combine, he's unlikely to end up at the Blues.

Purely on type, a gun mid sized power forward is as much of a need as more mids. Put Robbie Gray in our forwardline this year, we've probably got another 6 wins, maybe more, and are challenging for the finals. That's with a very young team largely carried by 6 players.

If Rayner is the best player in the draft, and the Queensland teams overlook him, we should not be passing due to needs.

Yep I'm with you. Stuff needs, just take the best player. When you are getting ready to challenge that's when you trade and draft on a needs basis

Yeah there'd be a whole host of questions they would go through with each draftee.
I've been told its amazing how much more you can find out about them when you sit down and have a conversation with them.

The way SPS built his tank over a season makes me think that a Rayner, who oozes talent as well, can do something similar given the right environment

He's been my smokey for our pick. Getting better and has AFL elite qualities. I rate him. Pick 3 is a stretch but Pick 10-20 I would pick him

I doubt his beep is 11.
11 means he can't finish games even at that level
