Surely if cricket are ever going to win out on one of these it's going to be James Sutherland's son?
Seems a bit of a 'tweener at cricket. Bowls pretty well, bats pretty well. Tall but not express pace. Equivalent of Alex Gregory here.

Just so much easier to have a football career. You don't have to be particularly outstanding. As long as you're in the top 100 or so for your year level then you'll get an AFL contract. Whereas you need to be in the top handful of cricketers for your age and barely any debut as teenagers.

I really like the sound of these two blokes : (would be rapt to land one with our first pick - then nab J. Edwards with our 2nd/3rd rounder)

#10 Joel Garner
Balanced Midfielder (Eastern Ranges/Vic Metro)
21/05/1999 | 183cm | 81kg

Scouting notes: Speedy midfielder who plays well on both the outside and inside. He uses the ball well off his left foot, hitting targets on the run or standing still. His handballing in close is another strength and he is able to clear the ball from a stoppage with ease. Screams X-Factor. Does need to improve a bit on getting to the right positions to win the football.

Last month: Garner has had two solid games to start the season for the Ranges, averaging 21 disposals, six marks and six tackles. Was quiet in both the AFL Academy games, but expect the strong leader to continue to find the football at school level for the next month.

#11 Charlie Spargo
Inside Midfielder/Small Forward (Murray Bushrangers/GWS Academy*)
25/11/1999 | 175cm | 73kg

Scouting notes: Small bite-sized midfielder who cracks in hard. Despite his size he wins the ball in the contest and tackles hard. Is one of the few midfielders who has a good goal sense and is a hard match-up when deep inside 50. * – Is ineligible for GWS to select him under the Academy rules

Last month: According to those who saw his game for Melbourne Grammar on the weekend – it was one of the best individual games they’d seen. With Spargo kicking three goals and collecting a large number of disposals. Has also played for the GWS Academy in the Under 18 Academy Series, despite not being eligible for selection. Had nine disposals and kicked a goal against the Northern Blues VFL.

How fast is Garner?

With you guys likely having a pick towards the very end of the first round, it would be a massive surprise if either of these guys were still their a your first pick.

Don't want any tiny mids, thanks. E.g. Higgins or Spargo (although I really like Spargo, just not for us)

Garner would be brilliant, but I doubt he makes it to our pick. Have him in my top 10, myself

Now that's a bit too far IMO

Fogarty, Brander, Rayner, LDU all brilliant and better prospects for mine

Garner has heaps of talent though, no doubt about it

They are the two I really like out of the mids. A lot of the Carlton supporters are on the Darcy Fogarty train. Some have been talking about Worpel for 12 months too. I actually think Worpel slides a bit for me. His kicking is a bit hit or miss.

I'm definitely on the Fogarty train. If he turns into a full-time mid he'll become a tall, explosive type that has the potential to be one of the best mids in the comp. Worpel's dropped down a bit for mine, him and Parish's kicking leaves a bit to be desired.

Think there will be a lot of interest in South Adelaide's Nathan Krueger as the season goes on, a tall Utility type likely to play across half back at the Championships....could see him as a player Hamish and the recruiting team would like. No. 43 in this short video.

Yep Kreuger's another good prospect. Can also play forward, but I like him better down back

You'll have our first round pick anyway

Oh mate who knows really. I think both sets of supporters are pretty much sick of the will he, wont he stuff, all the under rating and over rating of Gibbs worth. Its all a bit much really. Some clarity from someone would be nice. But I guess its going to run a few more months yet. :)

My mail saying it is highly unlikely it won't be for the Swans.

Callum Coleman-Jones I'd say we'd be a chance with our 1st as I can't see him going top ten at this time but a lot will depend on his performances throughout the year especially at the Championships. He's more a Ruck/Forward than exclusively a Ruckman. I reckon we might be looking at a KPP with X Factor like Noah Balta with our 1st personally. SA's Reuben Flinn in next year's draft is the Ruckman.
Thx Bicks, i think we will go tall this year unless there is a great talent still there at our pick

Love Spargo and reckon he's a gun

His footy IQ is out of this world

Very small and reckon he will be a pressure type front half forward ( a bit like Gresham but has a bit more zip )

Garner has alot of talent , perhaps as much as anyone but will be interesting to see if he can put it together in the championships consistently as tends to float in and out of games at times
