Scrap these plans we need good mid this year !Haha but seriously it's a good idea if we get deep into next years draft . Depending on where we are headed it might be worth trading into 2 picks 1st round next year

Ok so are they having the Div 2 champs or just making an Allies to play in the main Nats?the Allies is the combined Div 2 states
They have 2 good ones coming through next year but not much this year
Jones and Thomas are guns but Thomas in one of those next gen academies so will go straight to North Melbourne
Also with Jackson in the mix for fs we don t really want a late first on the books at draft time as we might have to use that pick to match a bid, whereas if we trade it out and there is a late first bid we can use latter picks to make up the points. We need to do something creative for sure , we can't wait . We need blue chip guaranteed midfield talent
Alot of clubs consider this a weak draft and may look to trade into next years
This gives us an opportunity to acquire 2 1st round picks ( giving up next years or if we unfortunately lose a player )
Now from what I've seen and heard there is no point holding 2 teen picks
With where we are at we need to trade those to get a top 8 pick at worst
Fogarty Rayner O'Brien and Davies-Uniacke and maybe Cerra come into calculations
Div 2 champs is done . I watched a lot of itOk so are they having the Div 2 champs or just making an Allies to play in the main Nats?

That could be the best name for a footballer I've ever seen from a commentary standpoint.Personally I think we need to trade for a mid unless there is a McGrath,Powell Pepper, Petrevski-Seton, Berry type that is almost guaranteed to make some sort of impact from year one. I'd prefer we have a serious look at a Noah Balta KPP type, oodles of X Factor and great physique and athleticism to go with a neat skill set. And please no more short ass mids at all.
Beg, borrow, steal to get a crack at Jack Lukosius next year.
Cerra could interest? Is probably behind LDU/Rayner/LOB/Fogarty at this stage, but very well built and been performing well. Likely Season 1 ready.Personally I think we need to trade for a mid unless there is a McGrath,Powell Pepper, Petrevski-Seton, Berry type that is almost guaranteed to make some sort of impact from year one. Galluci over SPP is looking terrible right now.Personally I think we need to trade for a mid unless there is a McGrath,Powell Pepper, Petrevski-Seton, Berry type that is almost guaranteed to make some sort of impact from year one. His dad Rob Lukosius played for Woodville. Big burly centre half back from memory. Ripping fellow too. That could be the best name for a footballer I've ever seen from a commentary standpoint.
Episode 4 Road To The Draft with the AFL's Mick Ablett
https://audioboom.com/posts/5926853-road-to-the-2017-draft-ep-4-michael-ablett
Edit : Interesting Mick Ablett mentions that clubs reported that some of last year's draftees told clubs when interviewed "Don't pick me" and hinted they wouldn't be sticking around if chosen by certain clubs. Sounds like the AFL may be looking into extending the draftees first contract period beyond 2 years especially in the case of "high" draft picks.![]()
no, but they could sign an extension whenever they want, if both parties agree. Can clubs offer their new draftees a longer contract than two years?

A long, long way to go before we can make a call on that one. SPP has a ready to go AFL body.Galluci over SPP is looking terrible right now.
I think we can finally put to bed weak draft/strong draft thinking. Last year we heard exactly the same thing; 2016 was weak and 2017 was the super draft. Let's be honest, no-one will know how strong a draft it is until about 5 years after it's been.We need to do something creative for sure , we can't wait . We need blue chip guaranteed midfield talent

Yeah they were my 2 choices but Hayward I'd have firstA long, long way to go before we can make a call on that one. SPP has a ready to go AFL body.
Hayward's the one I'm rueing to be honest. Kid looks like he 15 but already a gun. Could be anything and those Fyfe comparisons will come back to haunt us. But still, long long way to go.
This lad is a goal magnet

Was it just a trial game???
All the players that would have been shoe ins to make the side were named in the SANFL this weekend at the different levels?
Not quickYeah, I just saw that article and watched the video. Didnt play organised footy until he was 17. Massive upside in terms of his development. I wonder where he will be rated. Would love to get our hands on this kid. I hope Hamish spends the next few weeks following this club around. How skinny is he. Didn't see any footage of him on a run but if he has got elite pace to go with that natural talent then he looks like he will be something really special.
True - but I can't see SA being much good against metro or country??

He will be in range - whether there are better options though , seems good at what he does but limitedI'm thinking Worpel might be in our range now and he'd definitely be ready to go in his first year. The knock is his kicking can be inconsistent but that view should be tempered a bit IMO given he is an inside beast of a player and a lot of his possessions are in congestion with plenty of heat around him. Seems to be the forgotten man when mids are spoken of recently. It may depend where Geelong end up in the draft order because he'll certainly be on Stephen Wells radar. I see him as a Dangerfield type mid but lacking the express pace and the type of mid very suited to the contested stuff of finals.
Yeah I remember that, his footskills aren't brilliant but many inside mids don't have that. Love the combination of absolute top end speed and contested ball winning.Pointed him out ages ago before he was on the general radar, speed to burn and great athletically but iffy foot skills, iron that out and he's a player.
