If Lever and CC leave (let's say we do CC and 35 for 13, and Lever for 6 and a 2018 2nd).

I'd be hoping that we pick up a midfielder and a KPP. I reckon a combination of Cerra/Dow and Balta/Naughton would be perfect.

But there really only seems to be one South Aussie Darcy Fogarty that will be in contention for a 1st round pick and even he has been a bit underwhelming this season even before the knee issue arose. Still a fair bit of conjecture as to what his best position would be at AFL level, I think to pick Darcy early you would want to be pretty sure he can make it as a midfielder. Callum Coleman-Jones a Ruck/Forward prospect is the other that may come into contention but he's still a way off the finished product. A couple of others Nathan Kreuger and Jordan Houlahan offer plenty of X factor with their athletic profile but again both have a way to go before they are the finished product however I could see clubs going early on the potential they offer.

They could also recognise they have the other option of exchanging this years 1st rounder(s) for ones in the 2018 draft, could still take a punt on a Houlahan deep in the 2nd round given the talent gulf isn't that big to the 1st round this year.

I'll be interested in our psyche towards this draft if Lever leaves, we've seen in drafts after Guston & Dangerfield left we've almost deliberately gone out to prove we won't be scared off from picking Victorians with our early picks (Kerridge, Doedee), whether those moves were pig headed or not picking another Victorian with an early pick if Lever leaves will be intriguing.

It won't change a thing, because our method works with drafting, even if we lose 1-2 every now and then (and even then, you could argue losing 1-2 isn't a bad thing providing you get adequate compensation for it).

The second we change it, is the second we accept we exist in this league with no hope to do anything more.

Jeez, Close kicks 10 and isn't in the best players.

Constable long gone, Lochie O'Brien very outside midfielder, neat left foot kick, elite endurance, Connor Ballenden Brisbane Academy, Oscar Allen WA too short for a KPF at AFL level IMO, not overly quick, Noah Balta athletic KPP with serious X factor, yet to nail down what his best spot is, been jerked around by his TAC team playing him ,Ruck, KPD, KPF, Joel Garner, long left foot kick, very classy ball use, played mainly half back this year and not been quite as dominant as expected.

Gibbs or one of those?

Would depend entirely if we get Rockliff as a free agent.

Constable and Ballenden I seriously doubt are options, the two that would interest me most of the others are Balta and Garner who are also no certainty to be there either. Oscar Allen I'd pass, O'brien 50/50.
I'm with you Bicks

Balta is one of interest but very unknown and hard to gauge

Certainly interesting

OBrien been poor this year and agree re Allen

Tough year

Just a thought - if the ladder order stays as it is, and GWS trade for Carlton's pick, who would we take with Collingwood's pick (if Lever leaves), in this situation?

1: Brisbane - Paddy Dow (apparently aren't interested in Rayner)
2: GWS - Cam Rayner
3: North Melbourne - Luke Davies-Uniacke
4: Gold Coast - Adam Cerra
5: Fremantle - Jarrod Brander

Balta would be my preferred option, I reckon. Reminds me a lot of Keath, actually. Would be a great KPP prospect to develop for the future. Garner would be next on my list. Have a feeling both go earlier, though

Oscar Allen is absolutely a talent, I reckon he's a 3rd tall at the next level though (which is fine). Wouldn't be taking him with a first, early 2nd would be okay though. Don't feel like we need a LOB type

Nathan Murphy could be an interesting one, if he bolts. Haven't watched him, but he sounds like he has a very enticing set of skills (plus a few things like late birthday, focused on cricket before this year etc)

We'd take Darcy Fogarty would be my guess as who the club would take.

I'd take Jaidyn Stephenson.

Why would you say that? Think the club have been saying that they would take the best available, not their state of origin.

An updated, rough first round of the draft. This is assuming Kelly goes to Carlton, Lever goes to Collingwood and Charlie goes to Brisbane with 35 for 13.

1: GWS – Cam Rayner
2: North Melbourne – Luke Davies-Uniacke
3: Brisbane – Paddy Dow
4: Gold Coast – Adam Cerra
5: Fremantle – Jarrod Brander
6: Adelaide – Jaidyn Stephenson/Nick Coffield
7: St Kilda – Nick Coffield/Jaidyn Stephenson
8: St Kilda – Darcy Fogarty
9: Western Bulldogs – Charlie Constable
10: West Coast – Andrew Brayshaw
11: Essendon – Sam Hayes
12: Melbourne – Joel Garner
13: Adelaide – Noah Balta
14: Richmond – Aaron Naughton
15: Richmond – Patrick Naish
16: Sydney – Lochie O’Brien
17: Brisbane – Connor Ballenden
18: Adelaide – Hunter Clark

The only one I can simply not place is Jack Higgins, I rate him around the 9-11 mark but I can't for the life of me see who would see a need for him

Some stats from the weekend, according to Twomey

Dow - 35 disposals, 6 clearances, 7 inside 50's, 2 goals
Rayner - 28 disposals, 6 clearances, 7 inside 50's, 2 goals
Constable - 29 disposals
Brayshaw - 28 disposals
Stephenson - 25 disposals, 1 goal
Brander - 21 disposals, 2 goals

Bicks any ruckmen over there liable to fall the Crows way more so in the rookie range, Just curious as Hunter on the bubble and has responded OK with ROB out injured and this week they seem gave him a decent run in the Ruck that looks more like a last look at him. with Pyke and co watching.

Only one's I see over here would be J West or D Fort. as matures but they don't offer a great deal more than Hunter.
unless they go with a Kid but that would be a long-term project as I don't see them replacing Jacobs anytime soon. So we are looking at a backup ruck with ROB.

I like a Ballarat Rebel lad Lloyd Meek 202cm 104kg a lot, he's really got himself fit over the last summer and has had a very good year also making the bests for the North Ballarat Roosters in the 3 games of VFL he's been called up for, reasonably mobile, more a bodywork Ruck than a high leaper, very good contested mark when resting Forward, excellent foot skills for a big fella and prepared to follow up his Ruckwork with contested ground ball. Would be surprised if he's not drafted this year after missing out last year as he has really improved now he's got himself in good nick. IMO he could play some AFL as soon as next year.

Thanks good to know there are options out there as I believe Hunter playing for his football career in the AFL.

Went into Mars Stadium today for the U18's footy, got there early in the 2nd quarter of the Gippy Power vs Bendigo Pioneers game.

Paddy Dow - 184cm 78kg Mid - Showed why he's so highly rated, quick, evasive, classy by foot with a bag of tricks to match, sure to be one of the 1st mids picked....Class

Jarrod Brander - 195cm 90kg KPP - Another that showed why he's one of the highly rated talls in this draft, his contested marking a feature along with a penetrating kick and decent below his knees as well....Class.

Callum Porter - 181cm 71kg Mid - Impressed with his inside work in and around the stoppages , good acceleration and very good overhead for his size - AFL attributes for sure. Will get drafted for sure.

Aiden Quigley - 183cm 72kg Mid - In and out of the game but showed he's draftable with several nice clearances and some good touches around the ground.

Kane Farrell - 180cm 72kg Mid - Gritty in and under no frills mid, exceptional contested ball winner with a decent penetrative kick. AFL attributes, likely gets drafted.

In the 3rd game the powerful Dandenong Stingrays easily accounted for the GWV Rebels in a hard tough game.

Hunter Clark - 186cm 79kg Mid/HB - Best mid on the ground today, strong in the contest/stoppages, good acceleration and pace, can tend to hurry his disposal but a lot to like about his all round skill set. I'd happily draft him with our 1st pick.

Luke Davies-Unakie - 187cm 86kg Mid - Big Brute of a kid, considering his high profile I thought he was a little underwhelming today, not as much of an impact around the stoppages as expected with his major influences more around the ground between half back and half forward where his long kicking was a feature. Likely long gone before our picks.

Aiden Bonar - 190cm 89kg HF/HB/Utility/Mid - I'd heard this kid could play, that's an under statement, big, strong lad, great mover, great overhead, nice pace and agility, penetrating kick, great prospect. Coming of 2 ACL's the reason why he's a bit of an unknown but by jesus has he got some talent. Potential Gun. Will go surprisingly high in the draft despite the ACL's IMO.

Oscar Claravino - 195cm 86kg KPD - One of the highly touted KPD's in this draft, had a reasonably good game taking quite a few intercept marks and a couple of good contested grabs also, looks composed and didn't miss many targets by foot. Good, steady defender.

Callan Wellings - 181cm 71kg Mid/HB/Wing - Ever reliable, good game in the midfield as well as working hard between half back and half forward to find plenty of the pill, surely an AFL team will give him crack this draft.

Lloyd Meek - 202cm 104Kg Ruck/KPF - the most dominant Ruckman on the ground, presented well and took some good contested grabs, good at ground level and very good by foot for a big fella. Good 4 quarter effort. Should at least be late/Rookie chance IMO.

Aiden Domic - 185cm 81kg Outside Mid/Wing - Quiet early but worked into the game nicely, again showed his elite endurance with some nice run and carry between half back and half forward as well as some nice work around the centre stoppages, generally decent by foot all day. Likely gets drafted in the back half of the draft but a player I'd have no qualms picking for us.

Flynn Appleby - 186cm 80kg Medium Defender - A typical Appleby game, playing on dominant TAC Cup forward Riley D'Arcy giving away height and weight and holding that player goalless. A no frills hard nosed defender with neat skills in the Luke Brown mould that I'd not hesitate to take late/rookie, could very well turn out to be an inspired pick for any team that considers him IMO.

Jordan Johnston - 184cm 74kg Medium Forward/Mid - The most talented of the Rebels boys this draft IMO, capable of some amazing aerial feats for his size, good pace, good evasiveness and agility, works hard both ways and defensively, very good by foot, dangerous around goal and late in the season has shown he's certainly capable in the midfield. I really hope he's on our recruiters radar as I think he's a "special" talent.
Where do you see Bonar playing at AFL level Bicks? I haven't see.any of him so.can't comment, but that sounds a good wrap.

Chance to be available at the pick we may get for CC? ~20ish?
