Had a bit of a look over the draft ratings and we could get a few gems this year (I'm taking into account melbournes first round pick)
-Darcy Fogarty is the pick of sa talent. Dissapoiting national comp but was not 100%. If he's available at 10 we won't pass. 50/50 chance of him being there.

-Callum Coleman Jones: would be a longer term project. Not the exact replacement for sauce but is a solid ruck forward. Could be a joe daniher or Ben brown type forward. Would be JJ replacement

-Aaron Naughton. WA boy who would come strait in for lever. Good height and size 194cm/85kg with a good intercept mark. Should go early teens but could slide.

Plenty of good midfielders available to develop and send back to Victoria in a few years (Vic metro and country boys dominate the midfielders). Thinking Charlie constable is the pick of what will be available.
Really hope we take a punt on Stefan giro. Kid just continues to find the ball and hit the scoreboard. Could not do much more in all competitions. Jackson Edwards will be a great pick up after the second round.

Vic Metro

That's only a thing supporters care about, if he's the best available we'll take him.

If we lose him in two years then hopefully we've created a Lever situation where we get (well should get, barring a total disaster) more than the original draft pick.

Is it draft tampering if we do a deal with GC for Hall for our third pick and send Lever to the draft for pick number 2? :)

But seriously, we should be trying to push him there for pick 2. If Lever is about money GC has plenty. Thats where he should be going.

So was just reading jaksch from Carlton got delisted. Carlton gave up pick 7(marchbank) and got 19 back (boekhorst)
Then GWS traded marchbank pickett and this year's 2nd (22) for 45, 58 and Geelong's first (which they don't have yet)

Guess it depends on Geelong's pick but it's it
Out 7, 45,58
In boekhorst, marchbank jaksch, pickett
22, Geelong's 2017 first

Am I reading that correctly????

It's time for a junior footy intervention in SA.

2018 Level One Squad named.

SA appear to be poorly represented on paper, pointing to a dearth of SA talent??

If there's a kid called Flanders, we must draft him.

How is squad selected?

Bicks, I'm interested in your thoughts on this.

Obviously there are a few sons of guns out there who are born to play football good.

But most good players that come through don't have dads who played at a professional level.

Do you think there is a base level of some sort of sporting ability that the parents normally have to have for their kids to make it?

Have you ever seen kids come through who are good players, but their kids are completely unathletic with very little interest in sport?

Bicks Appelby is a medium back? He's beating players four or five yrs older when he steps up to the seniors?
I know you've talked about him a while. Where is he going to go in mock drafts.?

Question -

Will Fogarty last until pick 10, which is Melbourne's pick we may get for the Snake ?? If not, who are the quality mids likely to be available ?? Or do we go with a CCJ type ??

Left at half time in the 2nd game, bloody neck got the better of me, in for surgery in the morning hopefully to fix that...won't see too much of me on here for the next week or two methinks.

The Rebels vs Pios game was played in blustery conditions with a wind advantage to one end, For the Rebels Lloyd Meek clearly dominated in the Ruck, Aiden Domic good with some nice run, Johnston played mainly midfield and did well again on the inside as well as very dangerous when forward, Flynn Appleby outstanding on Brander who rarely got off the chain and the unheralded Lochie Dawson showed some real grunt in the contest.

For the Pios I thought Kane Farrell was very good, good blend of run and contested stuff, nice foot skills, reckon he gets drafted for sure, Darby Henderson was good in and around the contest, Brent Daniels was lively with some nice run. Personally I thought Lochie O'Brien was pretty average so I was surprised he was named Pios best also thought Brander for one so highly touted was pretty ordinary apart from probably a 5-10 minute period where he took a couple of decent marks and slotted his only goal.

The bit I saw of the other game Jaidyn Stephenson showed flashes of why he's so highly rated, Dylan Moore a very busy player, really like him pity he's not bigger, Toby Wooller good up forward, Stoddart and North both figured prominently.

;)
Stephenson might have put his name in top 5 calculations lately

I'd be hoping for Charlie Constable - 190cm inside mid that can play forward and back

Pick 10 on its own doesn't get the Lever deal done IMO

From the champs games, Moore seems to have a bit of Zac Fisher about him, but with more goal nous

Stephenson really showing his midfield craft recently, which is good

How did Domic go? Seems to be in some good form recently

Hope all goes okay with the surgery :thumbsu:
