I really, really, really, really hope we don't draft another key defender with a first round pick
With our first pick I hope we draft a two-way defender. Someone who can defend and then attack as soon as we get the ball. We can only carry so many dour types.

Premiership teams include players like Scarlett, Lake, Rance. We have no-one like that.

With our later pick / rookie picks we should pick up 1 or 2 pressure forwards. The next Puopolo / Cameron / Papley.

OUT: Menzel, Gore, Wigg, Thommo, Lever, Cameron
IN: Gibbs, Gibson, Greenwood, Death, pick 12, pick 39 (Edwards) Doubt anyone else gets delisted

I suspect that we will go with 40 on our primary list and then load up with Rookies. With Brodie Smith on the LTI list we will effectively have 39 available for round one plus the option to immediately upgrade a Rookie if required.

Other players who some very knowledgeable posters have suggested will be delisted include CEY, Cheney and Dear.
I believe Dear is still a chance to make it and Cheney and CEY provide depth at little cost. If anyone else is delisted then I expect we will pick up a delisted free agent to replace them. Three picks in the draft including Edwards seems about right.

He's only played a few games late in the season, played well in the U18's All Stars game before the Grand Final which was streamed by the AFL so there might be access to that.

North Melbourne put this up on Youtube so their obviously tracking him, very switched on young man that's worked so hard to fulfill his dream of playing AFL.

Id draft him just in that interview.. Very down to earth and obviously no issues with working hard.

Let's hope no one here uses the term we have a 10yr player, or 200 gamer.

The biggest shift of free agency for the Crows is the ability to recruit and develop a top tier player and expect to be in the box seat to keep them their whole career, particularly given the Crows team 1st pay structure.

It used to be that star players generally moved after a premiership or as they reached the later part of their career, but GWS changed that in a big way when they entered the comp by targeting under 25s with large offers, changing the landscape forever. Dogs went a step further with prospect Boyd and now contract, no contract, free agent, restricted free agent are all just currency adjusters.

Point being, whomever we target, whatever they say on draft day, whether they are a Adelaide boy or not, the better they are, the less chance they are career Crows.

Having said that, the Crows should invest in relocating whole families and girlfriend/wife families for key player retention. (Sarc) kinda

IF we get Fogarty and the stars have to align for it to happen he is behind at least Doedee and Keath and maybe even Cheney for the third tall role you would think

Could Fogarty play Levers role from rd1 if he gets a full preseason?

No

I think you are overrating first year players

SPP had a great year last year for being a first year player but struggled at times and was dropped but it was his first year and he is very very good but the step up is enormous Fogarty did ok when he played for the bays sanfl team but nothing great

TBH we need someone like Doedee to step it up it will be his third year which it was Levers third year last year. He was picked a few spots behind Lever as a first rounder so he would be the replacement but he has a few question marks which is why he hasn't hit the scoreboard yet

I am not over rating just asking the question of people that have watched him play a lot of footy

Nobody really knows but I'd say there's a fair chance he may. Most of the people saying he won't have in all reality not seen a lot of Fogarty play if any in the flesh and little if any of the other kids in contention for the 1st Round so their basing it on nothing but group think and gut feel,.
Bicks who are your top 5 to take at pick 12 in order?

I don't think we need to draft to replace - particularly at pick 12. Doedee, Keath and probably Cheney could all be used to cover Lever (in that order as well). For Cameron, we will use Galluci & Milera. I'm also expecting us to be pleasantly surprised by Ben Davis this year.

What I would like to see is us draft a real quality mid. Someone with speed, endurance, skills and a tough edge. Do the Crouch's have any younger brothers ready :p:praying: I would be putting the emphasis on outside run though. If course if Fogarty is available you grab him. He is a beast and can play a variety of positions.

Outside of that I expect we might look to rookie someone like Dom Barry (a quick Cameron type) along with Jye Bolton from WA (midfield backup).

Our only real interest in this draft is pick 12 and rookie picks as the others will be used for Edwards and the upgrades of Keath & Greenwood.

If we get Fogarty and Edwards, that will set up our midfield really well. Next year we can hopefully then look at Lukosious/Rankine. Either of these would be superb!!

I've got no idea who's who in the junior ranks in terms of specific people we should draft, but I really think we need an injection of pace. For whatever failings he might have as a player, he was just about the only guy in our 22 with real, genuine leg-speed. Milera isn't nearly as quick from what I've seen, and I haven't seen enough of Gallucci to make an assessment of him.

Another area I'm concerned about is the ruck. Jacobs is getting near the end of the line, and the only other real option we've got is O'Brien and the jury is still out there. Other than that... what is there? Hunter on the rookie list? Is he up to it? Jenkins is OK to give Sauce a 5 minute rest each quarter, but you wouldn't want him to be your number 1 option if Sauce is injured.

Mid-sized forward?
He's Tom Lynch speed or slightly above but bigger, more powerful build.

He wants to play midfield, but whether he can or not remains to be seen. We will grab him if he's there.

I feel like we'll go down the Hartigan path for Key defenders in the future, pick them up at 22 or 23 from State leagues where they can prove they actually can defend. Plus their body is mature already, any good defender that's a kid we'll see a similar situation to Lever, and you shouldn't be paying defenders that much.

We just lost the main x factor component from our team that's what I'm hoping to pick up at 12also they have to be a contested player, just look at all the grandfinals the soft outside players haven't turned up for years.

Lynch is an absolute fitness freak. His running ability is insane. Darcy would takes years to build up that sort of an engine. If he does, he might actually start playing as a midfielder.

What position has be played in the SANFL.
